Jupiter Hell is a classic, turn-based roguelike set in a 90s flavored sci-fi universe. Set on the moons of Jupiter, the game pits a lone space marine against overwhelming demonic forces. Rip and tear zombies, demons and unmentionable monstrosities, using classic weaponry such as shotguns, chainguns, railguns and the trusty chainsaw. All to the shine of CRT monitors and the tune of heavy metal!

Tactical, turn-based combat with real-time responsiveness

Benefit from classic roguelike turns with modern shooter sensibilities. Controls are immediate and accessible while retaining the back-end depth of a turn-based RPG.

Meaningful RPG progression

Customize your character with new weapons, items and abilities gained as you progress through a permadeath-prone hell. Beat the game to unlock more difficult challenges rather than grinding to make the game easier.

Randomized levels set all over Jupiter’s orbit

Blast through procedurally-generated civilian sectors, military space bases and mining colonies on the violent moons of Jupiter. Every playthrough you’ll find new ways to experience familiar settings.

Original shooter roguelike lineage

Jupiter Hell is built by ChaosForge, the team that’s been making top-down, cosmic hell roguelikes since 2002.

Jupiter Hell is a no bullshit roguelike.

Let me preface with there's a profanity setting you can set to high, which is awesome. I'm not a huge fan of swords and magic and it's one of the reasons I'm incapable of playing many roguelikes, so immediately this game stood out—it's the successor of Doom roguelike, after all. If you're the type of person that's wanted a roguelike with guns this is that roguelike. It's very easy to grasp, feels polished, and runs well. You will spend your time tactically shooting demons, finding new weapons (rare, unique coming soon, etc), armor, and blasting everything you come across and leveling up. There's mods for weapons you can find, and those will be fleshed out as development continues. Later levels increasingly raise the challenge on Medium. I've not yet tried hard, so I don't know how challenging it is, but from what I've read it can get brutal. Brutal is the whole point of roguelikes, anyway. There's challenge modes and you unlock more the more you beat. A custom game mode option is present but not implemented yet. The price is steep, but I think there's only one or two people developing it and they've been going strong for 7 years with no other job, so the price is understandable. And the game is certainly worthy of your money if you're into these types of games or would like to get into them. This is a more refined and polished Doom Roguelike so if you want an idea of what the game is like you can download DRL for free. The developer has said that he/they will be working on the game for years to come so just think of your purchase as a good investment with an already good product. Everything feels good. The sound is addicting, looting is addicting, shooting is addicting. It's all very punchy. Already various improvements added since I played the limited demo a month ago. Vulkan was also added. Jupiter Hell is a no bullshit roguelike that claims to be roguelike that actually is roguelike not roguelite. If you're into that you will have a good time.

Hell Awaits

RL goodness is back with this title. From the developer of DoomRL, which brings us a new look with clasic RL gameplay. Much fun and with that "one last run" feeling. Really enjoying the game, music and overall feel of the game so far. I have a feeling this a going to be a great RL, which it already feels as it is, but with the added bonus that there´s more to come! Be advised that the game, at least when launched via GOG Galaxy ask you if you want to use Vulkan (api), a similar API to OpenGL, or one would say the next step from OpenGL and/or equal to DX12 which some video cards might not support. In my case Iam using a Nvidia GTX 1060 (6GB) with no issues, although when I selected not to use Vulkan the game did not launch. Giving the game 5 stars because it´s from a veteran developer of RL´s, otherwise as it is, I would still give it a 4 star rating. Nice to see this on GOG so thanks GOG!

Rip, tear, die, repeat

If Jupiter Hell is a love letter to DOOM. Not so much gently scented with memory but soaked in fluids better not described. I have never played DOOM RL, although I have read great things about it. I adore this game. Somehow this turn based, top down game manages to capture the energy of running down the corridors shooting baddies in the face. Or, even better, 'sploding the liberally placed barrels. The cover system is zen simple and the movement has an extremely fluid quality in between gun fights that I find extremely pleasing. Weapon Variety - the weapon variety expands as you progress through the game, and any individual game is stingey with the interesting weapons. The game is by no means complete, and the developers are frequently replying to people in the community. The core gameplay loop is firmly in place and is extremely satisfying. It has that Soulslite quality where even low level enemies can ruin your day if you don't pay attention. My biggest negative criticism is that the camera doesn't give the player enough space when headed into a south-west direction. My much smaller niggling criticisms are the key bindings. They came from Hell along with the demons. The music isn't very good, which is a bit of a let down. It's just generic metal that lacks forward momentum.

I have spent way too much time on this

I love it. I'm generally more of an action game guy, so I love how this game is turned based with a single unit. I've beat it up to hard difficulty and I'm working on UV now. It's just easy to sit down and do a round. A winning run only takes about an hour or so. To me it has that Civ one more turn kind of feel. Even if I die (more often than not), it's still fun. On easy through hard if I die it's because I got caught up in the action and moved too fast without thinking. Frequent updates change up things enough to keep things interesting. Looking forward to see how this game evolves.

Rip and Tear!

I loved DOOMRL and still have a copy of it ony my pc. When I heard that they were going to make Jupiter Hell I was really excited. I am still blown away on how well the creator's vision holds up in this game. Being able to create a real roguelike game with fantastic feeling gun play is still a marvel to behold. The graphics are average but you can tell they are doing their best with the small team. The audio and music could be better, but are by no means offensive. Heck you can mute it and turn on your own blood pumping mix in the background. But the simple yet tactical and enjoyable game play is where this game shines. What do you get with Jupiter Hell? A demon blasting roguelike with tight mechanics thats easy to pick up and enjoy the hell out of. na zdrowie Kornel!
