Description
Welcome to Mega-City One, a city of over four hundred million people and everyone of them a potential criminal. Stretching the length of the 22nd century American eastern seaboard, Mega-City One is the most dangerous city on Earth, for it is calculated that one serious crime takes place every second of every day. So dangerous, it demands a special breed of law enforcer.

Here, there are no police, no trials and no juries, only the Judges. It takes fifteen years to train a Judge for life on the streets of Mega-City One. Fifteen years of iron discipline, rigid self-control and concentrated aggression. Most feared and respected of all Judges is Joe Dredd, a man vested with the power of instant sentencing, a man whose court is the streets and whose word is the Law!

Multiplayer notice: The game's multiplayer servers have been taken offline and the only multiplayer option available is LAN.
  • Become the most famous and badass law enforcer of the grim future
  • A thrilling comic book atmosphere
  • The best Judge Dredd video game adaptation ever

I AM THE LAW!

I give this game 5 stars: You are police, jury and executioner in one person, this is worth 3 stars. Another star, because Dredd is the most badass name. And another star, because "I am the law" is the best onliner ever. Together, 5 stars. Seriously, the game has some flaws, but overall is much fun. Its futuristic setting and the Judge Dredd character are really unique. The game is a bit short, but for this price you really cannot complain. Give it a chance, it's really awsome. The tutorial was a bit lame, but it gets better and better after that. Overall, I can fully recommend it and I'm happy to have played it.

An Honest FPS

I first encountered Judge Dredd not in the popular comic book series, 2000 AD but in the film version where Stallone had trouble speaking his lines as always. Then I played this game when it came out with the demo version, didn't impress me enough to buy the game. Here it is on Gog so I decided to give it a go and it's fairly good for the price. The main story can be breezed through in about 3 hours and that's only if you're actually killing everything. Enemies in the game are mostly vampires and zombies that fight in melee so you might not get that thrill of normal shooters where you're in gunfights all the time. Combat is a little clunky on the whole, probably because of the slow shooting (the lawgiver gun was fun though) I also noticed that reloading was identical to Perfect Dark, my favourite N64 game. You also get to arrest people but if you shoot innocents then you law meter goes down and you instantly lose which can get frustrating. I really enjoyed the artwork overall, it looked great for its time and is still easy on the eyes today. The music was also great and I'll definately be downloading the soundtrack here. As for additional content you get an arcade mode which pits you against waves of enemies in 12 different challenges and just like in the story mode you can acquire rankings to unlock cheats and multiplayer skins. Getting the highest ranking, "Judge Dredd" isn't too difficult. As for multiplayer I didn't see any servers up but I could still play some quick bot matches which were fun. Not the greatest FPS around but definately worth checking out for the price. Dredd is the law!

Fun shooting gallery.

The issue with this game is that it came out about 3 years after the tech and gameplay were obsolete, however, since you're on GOG dated gameplay doesn't mean a damn thing to you. If you're into late 90s/Early 2000's shooters (Red Faction 1/2, MDK, Serious Sam) then this is right up your alley. Almost zero plot (that you'll actually remember) and zero innovation. Run + Gun = Judge Dredd. Sometimes that's all you need.

I bought the law and the law won

I've just purchased and played through this game over the past few days and It's verifiably a B movie horror experience: it's cheap, quick, quirky, self aware, and full of one liners. The visuals don't have the best fidelity but are stylized well, and the only thing that looks objectively bad are the particle effects in my opinion. The overall gameplay experience is decent too, and even though NPCs can be quite dumb at times the experience isn't brought down by it much. That being said, there's also some early ragdoll physics present in the game which are frankly quite hilarious considering they don't agree with the physics engine half the time. While the story may have been short, it was paced well and I can't think of a time that was particularly annoying or frustrating. The level design was also handled quite well and is one of the best things about the game; every environment very much feels 2000AD and gives the feeling of expanse. If you want a cheap chuckle this game will definitely deliver, even moreso if you're a fan of the comics.

''LAAAAUUUW'' (rico version)

Now, finally setting aside the meme ( it is hilarious , though), I can say : it's actually pretty ok. Mind you, the game has SERIOUS flaws, but all in all it is decent. Sometimes it manages to reach high peak of fun with its action packed levels ( near the end, there'll be more frantic shooting at the cost of some unpolishness ) and an interesting law system, actually : some action you'll perform have ''moral'' consequences ( and also in game mechanics, since it'll be game over) like shooting incendiary ammo on civilians. Which is interesting how rebellion wanted to bring some of the philosophy from the comic book into the game (or at least something lore friendly). Unfortunately The game is son of an era of video games that I despise ( mid 2000') and it's also across-console, which mean its interface and overall things you can do are actually pretty limited. On top of that, most of its appeal actually comes from being born as franchise of judge Dredd, without it it would pass unnoticed. However, this does not mean the game isn't worth it : quite the contrary, for every fun of both FPS and judge Dredd's franchise, this is almost a must-buy that you'll keep you entertained for a while... or if you don't feel like playing, you can just press E : '' Hands over the head, CREEP''.
