Best game I played in 2020

While I did buy this on the Epic store(I don't regret getting it when it launched), I would absolutely recommend this game to everyone regardless on which store you get it on. The game itself is beautiful, the humor is funny( take a few minutes an watch the commercials on you ship, they are insanely funny), while combat isn't the main focus of the game it is very well designed and responsive. The voice acting is exceptional and adds life to a game with a largly silent protagonist, though the explorer isn't life less, they are brought to life with gestures and actions. The only problem I had was the grappling beam not connecting properly, but that is the only bug I have ever encountered in the game. Today the standard is to have a new game plus to make following playthroughs easier and let them explore, Typhoon decided to go a very different route, Old Game Minus, you start with nothing extra, nothing you had carries over, you are on the clock(if you take too long bad things happen), and to make it just that slight bit more challenging you have only 3 lives.(It's not a s easy as it sounds) This game isn't something you can easily describe in words so I would absolutely recommend buying, it is more than worth the asking price.(If you have friends, the game is co-op, and there is friendly fire).

Almost pure fun

I didn't quite know what to expect but in a nutshell, it's an exploration focused shooter with a lot of jumping and grappling. It's open worldish with most areas directly connected even though there are teleporters for fast travel. The world is colorful with a lot of secrets that involve quite a bit of vertigo-inducing jumping and grappling. The ability to perform multiple jumps and to grapple have to be earned though by collecting items. But as soon as you can double/triple jump and grapple, moving around is a lot of fun. There's only one weapon which is a bit on the annoying side with its tendency to stop shooting when you need it most and the over-sophisticated charging which needs multiple correctly timed key/button presses. Still, it's good fun to shoot the alien lifeforms into slimy chunks. The boss fights are not extremely difficult (and you can usually flee), it's possible to find all secrets because you can get scanners for them later in the game, all in all the design is pretty fair. Not everything is totally great though. Apart from the weapon, also the two different jump keys/styles don't make much sense. And most of the video footage that is supposed to be hilarious is cheaply done and not very funny. Some enemies like the frogs are badly designed and hitting them is a bit random just as some of the special tasks. Also the last part of the main game (tower) is a bit unfair and frustrating. There are also some death traps which are impossible to exit alive without the proper ability or even with it (Gauntlet). Then again, dying is part of the game design and getting your inventory back is never a big problem. The DLC introduces a way to fly by hitting rings which made me crazy at first but which worked out quite well after a while. In sum, it's a very worthy addition. I needed around 27h for the main game plus DLC with 100% completion and most of this was pure fun, especially the exploring. I still cursed the developers now and then ;)

Amazing Game - Co-Op Unplayable

My wife and I got this game on sale at GOG. We played for a few hours and absolutely loved it The game is beautiful and the mechanics are great. We were ready to sink countless hours into it. BUT.. The co-op on GOG is unplayable. We're both on high end PCs with wired connections, so hardware is not an issue. It also is ONLY the 2nd player that is insanely laggy. First player is always fine. I'm not sure if it's how GOG is handling the multiplayer aspect or what, but it's so bad that we cannot play it on GOG. We've requested a refund, and we'll wait for it to go on sale on Steam or Epic. Very disappointed with the GOG version!!

Great fun! Even better on sale. :-)

If you love to explore, collect some goodies and shoot a few enemies, this game is great. It's satirical humour is also a very fun fit to the game. It's true that you cannot manually save, however the teleport points are all over the place; just hit one up and tp back to starting ship to be safe and sound. Hitting esc doesn't pause the game.... this was shocking to me when I found out. I had hit Esc and gone afk for a bit. Since I was playing single player, it was reasonable to assume it had paused. I came back to a welcome back from death screen; it was my first. I'm guessing this was required so you can have co-op mode; yes you can play with friends.

Great exploration game!

Great journey through an alien world at first shrouded in mystery, discovering flora, fauna and the remnants of an alien civilization, while getting resources to improve your equipment, giving you access to even more places and secrets. Beautiful and full of humor. If you like this kind of game, this is one of the best.
