Simply the best platformer

I was waiting for this release since I started using GOG. I knew they can do it and will definitely revive the greatest platformer of all time. Starting up the game and walking through the options I was a bit afraid of the resolution (640 x 480) - for some reason I remebered it has higher resoltuion. The reason was that it still looks amazing. I play it on a full HD monitor with a new controller on a pretty new rig and it is still fantastic. This was the very first game I owned and run flawlessly on all my machines. I have to say, that it has aged very well. The gameplay might slightly remind some to its greatest competitor - Sonic the Hedgehog, but the atmosphere is totally different, in a good way of course. Fast paced action, with the ability to fiddle around the map or just run through. I also love the multiplayer, since this is one of the few games that has split screen co-op multi, besides the competitive. Great job EPIC and GOG!

One of the best 2D platform games on PC

Back in early 90' Apogee ruled amongst developers of 2D platform games on PC. But with release of Jazz Jackrabbit 2, a new king was borned. Sequel is in my opinion far more "fluent" and more comfortable to control than predecessor. What is more, Jazz has arsenal of weapons so rich, that it's comparable to any FPS game from 90' - which is great, because it adds a lot of variety. JJ2 is surely not the hardest game amongst platform games, but I didn't had problems with that. Not to mention that it's perfect game for someone who starts his contact with this genre, which is generally a problem with older 2D platform games (usually veeery hard). Besides - with attached JJ2+ mod there is additional, higher difficulty level which will definitelly be attractive for veterans in this genre. The environment and amount of enemies is also quite impressive - although I admit that some of the graphical themes are rather cheap, such as the "spooky" theme of (i.e.) Ghostly Antics level. The balance between platform section and fighting is not ideal (Jazz seems to be more "fight-oriented", platform section are usually relatively easy), but due to rich arsenal of weapon I can't consider it as a lack, it's rather the characteristic aspect of the game (not all weapons are well developed though, e.g rather useless RF missiles in basic form). Another nifty thing is, that game is giving a lot of fun in both singleplayer and multiplayer mode. Scenarios for 1 player are overall not especially long, but with levels editor and active community you shouldn't complain for lack of fun. The same thing goes with multiplayer - it's really great that we've got a couple of them and most of them is quite fun (standard deathmatch, race, even CTF mode!), and what is more - they're available in all possible flavours - split-screen, LAN and internet - I wish that every platform game could have such variety in multiplayer! Despite small lacks, it's incredibly fun title, definitelly worth your time.

Childhood Classic

A game from a much simpler time for many. I fondly remember the many hours spent with this classic in my childhood. Surprisingly, it is still a lot of fun to play. I took it with me on a laptop for a family holiday and I had a great time still. The graphics, the animation, the way Jazz shouts to the player "Hey, come on, what's up?!" during one of the idle animations, it's all great. Alexander Brandon's music is on another level, and if you played the original Unreal and Unreal Tournament, his style will be easily recognizable. I encountered some small bugs and crashes using Win7 so my advice is to save the game at the beginning of each level and just before exiting a level (going past the exit sign).

In many ways an improvement over Jazz 1

I remember getting a demo of this game as a child and losing my mind. Now that I've owned it and played it I still think it is a really solid experience. This is the closest 90's PC comes to rivaling Nintendo or Sega and I actually prefer this to many of their platformers. Compared to the original I feel like the level design is much more innovative and willing to try new things. There are some levels which feel sort of similar but there are enough excellent ones to balance it out. Also improved from the original is that the camera is much more zoomed out so you can actually see what's coming most of the time. Like the first this is chalked full of secrets and still to this day I can't find enough coins in some levels to get to the bonus loot. It works well as a two player split screen and the multiplayer games are pretty fun as well. My favorite levels have to be Colonius, Psychadelia, Jungle, Beach, and Medivo but there are some other great ones. I also love the variety of weapons in this one and how they interact differently and can be powered up to better versions. Great job Epic Games!
