Iron Harvest

I had a huge fun playing this one, great story and artwork, kept me engaged all the way. I even bought both DLCs, after finishing main campaign. Don't quite understand why it has so relatively low score. If you're a fan of RTS like me, do yourself a favor and try this one. I just had to do it justice, as there are lot of crappy games on GOG with way higher scores than they deserve. And arguably there aren't many good RTSs here either.

The ambiance and visual effects are excellent. However, as an RTS, this falls short of previous greats such as DoW2 and CoH. In my opinion, this is primarily due to two things, firstly the cover mechanic being is flawed. Mechs including your own wander through cover as if this was nothing, which requires you to hold shift and map the path everytime. Cover is only useful in early missions or certain missions in conquest mode that are limited to infrantry. Secondly, the range of weapons such as long range guns or mortars make them ineffective to use. This means units such as the PZM-7 'Smialy' become the most cost effective unit with high speed and good firepower, this allows rushing through enemy cover with ease. Then there are some odd decisions, such as a field gun being able to hold off two units of infrantry and buildings taking up the small unit cap. This leads to placing minimal mines or bunkers, which again reduces the use of infrantry. In summary, this game has a great visual style, as well as interesting a mostly interesting campaign and decent conquest mode. However, the lack of tactics needed (such as cover, supression) made this less enjoyable to play than previous RTS greats.

Is like Company of heroes 2, with better graphics, awesome unit designs, and surprisingly a 10/10 story, with cinematics, 4 factions 5 campaigns that follow a story in the purest warcraft 3 style. And the multiplayer is really great, with ranks, unlockables like portraits , change color units etc. This is a AAA Strategy game by a AA company, so awesome. Right now the game has fixed all its launch bugs. If you really like strategy, try it! And remember that the movement of the units is very important !!

First of all: the game has its rough corners and edges. The Ui is sometimes unresponsive, the Mechs behave frome Time to Time like the Harvesters in C&C... but you can feel the Passion, the Devs put in this Game. The had my Interest with the Tutorial. But the catched me with the Story and Characters. I was instantly in the Story, like the Protagonists und the Soundtrack... Long Story short: If you like a game with a fresh Setting and a in my Opinion good Story, buy Iron Harvest and support the Devs :)

This game is not a highly polished rts and it shows. However you can feel the amount of care and work that's been put into it. The dieselpunk alternate history of 1920+ is beautiful aesthetically if not exactly top notch graphically. The story is competently told, but not really an outstanding element. The game plays well enough: the cover is a little finicky at times and I feel like buildings ought to block line of sight a bit better, but positioning your mechs to flank your enemies is a wonderful feeling. As far as bugs go, I haven't encountered any particularly egregious. I have nothing to say about the multiplayer, since I don't really play multiplayer..... It's worth a play, but if you want a more complete and polished experience Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40k Dawn of War are much more solidly put together.
