Merchants Guild Approves!

To be honest I have been playing the first and more recently the second game for some time now so Sseth's review didn't need to be there to approve of it... However, I'm glad it is getting the notice it deserves. It's such a fun game that feeds my addiction of older Stealth games like the Thief games and Splinter Cell. Nothing in the world is better that going through a mission never being spotted and taking out most of the enemies only for the last few to be paranoid as all hell. Fantastic game that's on my list of more recent indie title like Nine Sols, Wandering Sword, Crow Country, Underrail, etc. More evidence that if you focus on a game first with strong mechanics you'll go so much further!

Worthy sequel

Short recap: Intravenous is a tactical top-down, focused on stealth (altho: run-and-gun is possible: it's up to you). If you liked the first game, you'll probably love this one too. Intravenous 2 is continuation of the first game, with lots of improvements. The only gripe, it suffers from what the first game suffered too: a awful story. (It is very questionable). And not always consistent. To be short: - If you loved the first game, buy this one. - If you never played the first one, get it, or check some reviews and decide for yourself.

Excellent sequel

Intravenous 2 is a huge improvement over the original with plenty QoL improvements all across the board making it play better than ever, tons of new features, tiny ones such as breaking locks and kicking doors, and larger ones such as gun customization and leveling. AI behavior seems hugely improved with newer reactions and deadly tactics, and I really like the new levels which seem much bigger overall, and largely more complex, it's already showing a huge replay potential. It's basically the first game but better, and even then the first game is excellent, and hugely replayable as well. The only downsides if I had to find some would be: -The story is bad, and the dialogues are longer than ever, but who cares really, it's all about the action. -Not a fan of these daylight missions, I think the mechanics and AI aren't adequate for that, but they can be played at night too so it remains optional. -The magazine management mutator of the original is gone, as there's now different ammo types for each gun and it couldn't work with it, but these new ammo types add a new challenge so I'm okay with that. Easily the best game I played this year, and one of the best stealth games out there.

More Intravernous (good)

It's Intravenous 1 but improved everything by in large (better level design, better loud gameplay, more equipment and weapons, etc.). Even the story while not a big selling point at least tries to make itself more interesting thanks to having two unique protagonists and branching paths near the end of the game. If you like stealth games (Splinter Cell in particular), this is a must buy imo.

Love it, but have some little gripes.

4/5. I love the first Intravenous - one of my favorite games. I highly recommend that game, and I highly recommend this one. For me, these two games are all about the visceral joy of sneaking around, stabbing, strangling, bludgeoning, and shooting "the bad guys." (I really am a peacenik in real life!) Doing it over and over again, tweaking my execution for each level. It's all about the game play, and the game play is great. I love going in guns blazing, and I also love sneaking around and doing things clean like. Both Intravenous games are fantastic. The new game adds some extra mechanics, which are mostly pretty cool. Combat feels a little grittier, with enemies sometimes getting back up after you shoot them. There are cool enhancements for the various guns. Etc. The story on this game is much worse than the first game, and the first games story was bad. I try to bypass the story and just get on with the game. I really wish the game didn't even have a story, and fewer cut scenes. The levels on this game feel less quality than the first game. But I still look forward to replaying them a lot. In some ways, the first game was less deep, but it somehow flows better (level design, less story, etc). All the same, I plan to replay both of these games many times (I already have replayed the first one more times than I can count; I would say the replay value on these is very high). This developer deserves more success. First game was 5/5, this one is 4/5. 4/5 is still very good.
