Inquisitor

It's a shame that the combat in this game is such a huge drag, where you have to wade through level after level of swarms of monsters that add little to the game, as the story itself, the setting, the music, the graphics, and the overall feel off the game outside of the dungeons combats is awesome to the point of being one of the very best games ever. It really needs the Devs to mod it to dramatically reduce the size of the dungeons so that we can concentrate on the game and its superb atmosphere.

If you want to experience a medieval religious themed detective whilst battling hosts of evil - this is a great game to get those vibes. Note that this game has lots of dialogue as well as lots of combat so it can be enjoyed by audiences seeking either. I actually enjoyed both though the combat can feel repetitive at times. Exploring the villages and cities (there are several) throughout the game was really highly enjoyable, however. The game was made by a Czech team so the medieval and Catholic vibes are quite accurately recreated and mold very well with the fantasy elements. Technical note: If dialogue text is too small for you, and you have a Radeon card (not sure how it is with Nvidia) try various 'super resolution' settings - they work absolutely great and I found the game to be 100% technically reliable and enjoyable.

The writing and the atmosphere are great. So many details and choices to be made... Unfortunately, the difficulty spikes early ingame and gets worse all the time forcing you to drink an insane number of potions just to progress one inch on the screen. I never quit RPGs I start but I made an exception for this one: I had to admit defeat. Yet... I enjoyed the time I had with it.

This game is not a Diablo, is not a Divine Divinity, basically is not a hack and slash. Has some elements, similarities in the art, but is not a D clone. This is an isometric RPG with insane amount of text, npcs to talk with, and game honours it's name: Inquisitor, you're just that, an inquisitive fellow asking and asking. If you looking for action hack and slash like diablo, this is not. This is a unique a and different isometric rpg experience. I would describe this game as an interesting hybrid between Diablo and for example, Planescape Torment. This is a game for those that enjoy rpgs with deep story, plot twists and such.

Please read DarthCruciare's review. He's absolutely right about the inexplicable Stamina mechanic of this game. I enjoyed the detective work and all the reading but having to wait IN REAL TIME for my stamina to regen after each fight is what put me off this game. You should not have to wait after every combat for a game to be fun again. Might be ok with a Stamina trainer to set it to max all the time but I'm not sure I'm willing to invest that much time into looking for one. My workaround was buying a copy of Divine Divinity and next time I will read the reviews much more thoroughly.
