On the evening of the fall of the Berlin wall, a young woman plunges headlong into a parallel dimension to find her missing work colleague who has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. While the checkpoints in East Berlin are still being overrun by crowds of people, Nora escapes from this world, into unknown layers of time and into an unknown fate.
Profound story: Experience a classic story-driven first-person shooter with about 4 hours of gameplay
Tight atmosphere: Dive into a lovingly designed world full of mystery and lynchesque surreality
Deadly danger: Enemies lurk around every corner - defend yourself with 4 different weapons
Unique setting: Berlin at the time of the fall of the wall meets a surreal industrialized city
Experimental soundtrack: Synthesizer, acoustic instruments and melancholic vocals
Berlin, 9th November 1989: The streets are full of people. After four decades of division, thousands of cars are rolling across the inner-German border. The Wall is finally open!
At the same time a man disappears in a secret research facility near East Berlin. His goodbye message reaches you too late. You drive back to the office, where the State Security has already destroyed all records of the research project. The complex is deserted and empty.
The search for Walter takes you deep into the center of the facility - right into the heart of the universe, where time seems to stand still. The dark secret lurks - well hidden - behind the curtain. In the end, it is horrible insights and the questions of responsibility that make you dive deeper and deeper into a strange, surreal yet familiar world.
I enjoyed the story and world but felt like there needed to be more context. Gameplay was ok and combat was alright. Would have been cool if there were weapon upgrades but unfortunately the game is pretty short.
So I purchased this game going in blind, caught on by the steampunk/dishonored sort of style that caught my eye.
Obviously, this game is complete different to that and I have to say, I was hooked.
Despite having a really short play time, the gameplay is tight and the use of space and level design made me want to explore more of the city than what was possible.
Solving puzzles actually felt rewarding. It doesnt hold your hand too much, which I really liked. The "dream" sequences between sections, though confusing, mixed in well with the overall theme.
Overall, worth a play. I may replay this again in the future to try and really understand what was going on.
My 4070 runs at 60% gpu + full fan speed during the initial cuscene. It stutters while picking up the phone.
Accessing the config menu bumpes the gpu to 100% and the pc takes off.
Too dangerous.
This game has a good premise and it looks nice, but has several issues with the implementation. The performance is not very good and even with dlss doesn't improve much. I can run Cyberpunk 2077 with better performance than this, and that game has much larger areas. The shooting feels janky and the feedback is weak. There were times I wasn`t sure if i was even landing the shots. The arsenal is pretty limited, but does the job. The balancing of resources is all over the place. It feels like the developers weren't sure if they wanted an FPS or a survival shooter. It seems they tried to tweak some stuff on some updates after release and then just gave up. You can barely carry any ammo, but there are lot's of ammo crates in every area. The game is very stingy with healing. The game is buggy and sometimes not even closing and reopening fixes them. But at least it never crashed. Overall a weak game.
atmosphere is well done
I am left wondering if there was originally going to be more done with the chemicals beyond making the rust remover the one time at the beginning
