Description

Indivisible is an action RPG platformer featuring stunning hand drawn art and animation combined with unique real-time combat mechanics.

Immerse yourself in a fantastical world with dozens of playable characters, a rich storytelling experience, gameplay that’s easy to learn but difficult to master, and the trademark razor-sharp quality that Lab Zero Games is known for!

Our story revolves around Ajna, a fearless girl with a rebellious streak. Raised by her father on the outskirts of their rural town, her life is thrown into chaos when her home is attacked, and a mysterious power awakens within her.

The game’s huge fantasy world, characters and aesthetic design are inspired by various cultures and mythologies. Throughout Ajna’s quest she’ll encounter many “Incarnations”: people whom she can absorb and manifest to fight alongside her.

There are many Incarnations to recruit, each with their own story and personality. By uniting people from faraway lands, Ajna will learn about herself, the world she inhabits, and most importantly, how to save it.

Good, but Ever Unfinished.

So... It's hard to approach this game with the announcement of development ceasing on additional content meant to be in the game--both from those who backed it as well as Guest characters the game will tease you about finding through dialogue. The game is a love letter of Metroidvania traversal and exploration and unique combo-driven RPG combat familiar to those of Valkyrie Profile. The platforming and traversal is a weak point throughout a good chunk of the game, with it only starting to really develop and evolve once the game eventually gives you some necessary tools. And it only really hits it stride towards the end and with optional points throughout the earlier maps. Combat then ends up carrying much of the game, and while everything is fluidly and beautifully animated? As you progress, there's a feeling of things missing here or there. Several characters, for instance, lack an ultimate ability which can sometimes limit their usefulness. And in the case of guest characters, you'll see murmurings of NPCs talking about them and hinting toward their inclusion with later patches... But with development ceased, they're no longer being put into the game. The cast as is is strong, but each character plays uniquely from one another. It is easy to settle into a specific party because you prefer how the individuals in it play. And sadly, with some left feeling as though they are missing pieces of game play or feel unpolished and others unimplemented entirely? That will not change now. Doubly so for one person The story is serviceable, it isn't incredibly strong or surprising but it flows well enough--even if the Metroidvania elements tend to interrupt or outright stop it dead in its tracks. Progressing through it then can at times feel stilted, having to wander around through several mainline stories to finally find what is needed. Overall the game is good, but not at full price. Wait for a healthy discount, and keep in mind what is offered is all that will ever be.

Lackluster implementation

I'll agree with what others have said: It's a lackluster implement of much greater titles in which it draws it inspiration from. Originally backing this in 2015, the hopes have been high. A Valkyrie Profile look-alike from a company that knows how to make combat games - sweet. Both the prototype on PS4 and the demos and backer previews on PC showed promise. The combat system was fluid and sweet, albeit characters didn't have much of a back story and were added haphazardly for the purpose of showcasing the game without spoiling story. That was okay. However, upon release it shows that not much has changed. The story probably had some decent intentions way back when, but it told poorly and not believable. Characters you meet apparently join along your quest in your head (of all things) and usually have no argument or trail of dialogue to argue against you. "Perhaps you can join me?" "My house has burned down. Yes, of course I can!" Furthermore they've changed axe climbing, added unforgiving platforming to a game that isn't a platformer and artificially inflated boss fights by having no option to grind beforehand. 505 have tailored how they want each large encounter to play, and that's too bad. It's these little bits that turns what should've shown great promise on paper, with a superior backdrop of iconic cult influences, but ends up ultimately being a huge disappointment. The voice acting is for the most part ok, graphics wonderous and combat is allright, even though they've also changed how iddhi works from their prototypes (power abilities unique to each character) so they they break/pause combat instead of being a natural part of flow. In my opinion that worked much more fluidly before. All that doesn't help what ultimately feels like a game that should've listened more to player feedback and read more up on what made games like Valkyrie Profile so insanely great. Get it on sale, but beware if you are a VP veteran like the undersigned.

Pretty looking, but monotonous.

Soundtrack and graphics are beautiful, but that's not enough to make a good game. It's very repetitive and there is not much to do. Combat system is too simple and it gets boring very quick.

It does suck after all

Well, that was a big dissapointment. What is good about this game? - Art style, visuals, music (also it just screams BUDGET TITLE the whole time). What is bad about this game? - The game. Gameplay loop is just awful. Braindead combat and way too much platforming. That's what everybody loved in Valkyrie Profile - platforming, right? If you want to do character quests you'll need to traverse maps 20 times over looking for random crap and it's a freaking lot of unnecessary platforming. In the first half of the game you may need healers and it takes like a three full party combos to take down one goddamn rat and in the second half you can pick whoever and destroy anybody. So, 23 hours for 100% and I didn't do all the character quests, because I don't want to comb the map yet again. All it gives you are some pictures in the credits. Overall it feels like a big waste of time and money. They should've just make it a visual novel instead, because the world is beautiful and the characters are charming, but a lot of it feels very underdeveloped.

Irresponsive controls bring it down.

Really enjoyed it up until a point. Great graphics and sound, voice acting is charming. Story is alright, I guess. But the there were far too many moments where I was shouting that I had hit the right buttons to complete a challenging platform section and the game just randomly decided it wasn't going to register and I either wound up at the bottom of a pit or stuck some place. I eventually rage-quit near the end. Whatever lies at the end of this rainbow isn't worth the amount of janky gameplay to see.
