Europe, 1938. The Lost Ark was just a warm-up! Now Adolph Hitler is after the most powerful talisman of all-the Holy Grail. A few brave men stand in his way. Fortunately, one of them is Indiana Jones. And this time, he has his dad with him.

The bad guys are in your face all the way--Nazis, mercenaries, traitors, and spies. Not to mention everything the Luftwaffe can throw at you... Can you handle the heat?

If you can, you just might earn a higher I.Q. (Indy Quotient) than the man with the whip and the hat.
  • Visit dozens of locations you never saw in the movie!
  • Play cat and mouse in the catacombs of Venice!
  • Fight your way through the eerie Schloss Brunwald!
  • Over 100 sound effects... plus movie theme music.

An Old Adventure with Old Issues

For it's time I'm sure it was okay, but it suffers the same issues a lot of these P&C games do that just wouldn't be accepted now. Far too many random incoherent puzzles that expect the player to just stumble onto the answer through sheer luck. I was never a big fan of the verb system and this is a good example of why not. It's very easy to think you've tried something already, only to then find you needed a different verb to perform that action. I also found a good chunk of the verbs are barely used in most games and this one was no different. Overall, if you're going to play this, do so with a guide at the ready. Enjoy the story, the characters and the different take to the film and just play it for what it is.

"I don't see anything special about it"

This game might've been amusing in 1990; and timely, given that the movie had just come out, but the game's time has passed, based on the modest amount I played. You'd be impressed that such an old game produces the sound of footsteps for your character, until you realize there are almost no other sound effects and little music. (Gaming customs sure have changed!) You play in silence, though "play" is a stretch. This is a very old and rudimentary adventure game, with a way outdated interface, a few tedious, illogical puzzles, and not much else to do. The VGA graphics were great for back then, but there's very little you can click on to examine or interact with, and most objects only inspire Indy to say, "I don't see anything special about it". Really not worth buying or playing anymore, especially since you can get the classic "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis", a superior game with better production values.

Not great by todays (or 1990s) standards

It’s not a terrible game, I’m being generous because I recall it from childhood, but there are too many clunky puzzles/things (many right at the start of the game) which ruin it for me: - The pointless mazes which just pad the game out. - Large environments with absolutely nothing/no one to interact with meaningfully. - A very obscure item puzzles based on a pixel hunting (even where there is some logic to it, items are just too hard to find amongst the junk and dark backgrounds). - The interface is a product of its time (like Maniac Mansion, having to select ‘what is’ and hover around the environment before items you can examine/interact with show up, then selecting the ‘open’ or ‘look’ commands and re-click on the item, or you can blindly click around in order for item names to show up when you hit them. I was born into that era but it still gets old fast). - The fighting system isn’t good, fair play for trying something new (especially with the possibility to work around some encounters), but just not a good fit for a point and click, hence why it’s not been done much since. As many others have said, I’d suggest people wanting their Indiana Jones point and click fix go for the Fate of Atlantis over this game (despite its flaws), it still has retro appeal but a more modern interface and provides a new story and not a shaky re-treading of a familiar movie. In fact, once you’ve played this, you can understand and forgive a lot of the issues with Atlantis as you can see what a leap forward it was. Maybe in another dimension there’s a third and even more refined Indiana Jones point and click game out there.

Nothing Amazing

This is a small step up from LucasArts' previous endeavors, but it's nowhere near as good as the things that arrived later. The interface is still a pain, dialog puzzle solutions are random, and the fighting is really difficult. This game is ok, but nothing compared to Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. which you should play instead.
