Description
1939 - the eve of World War II. Nazi agents are about to get their hands on a weapon more dangerous than the atom bomb. Only Indy can stop them before they unleash the deadly secret that sank Atlantis!

In Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, you play the role of Indiana Jones, famed archaeologist-adventurer, as he attempts to discover and explore long-fabled Atlantis. Nazi agents, eager to unleash the powers of Atlantis against an unsuspecting world, are hot on Indy’s heels… or have they already passed him?

Here’s where you come in: you direct the actions of Indy (and, occasionally, his one-time colleague turned psychic, Sophia Hapgood) in his search for Atlantis. Periodically, Indy will be called upon to drive a car, ride a camel, pilot a balloon, operate a submarine, and repair and use Atlantean machinery. Beyond that, there will be a heap of mysterious puzzles to unravel and a slew of dangerous encounters to survive. With the help of your wits, your fists, and your trusted companion, you and Indy will eventually discover the true Fate of Atlantis!

  • Point 'n' click your way through fistfights, puzzles, balloon rides, car chases and Indy one-liners.
  • Explore over 200 spectacular locations as you take Indy to such exotic backdrops as Monte Carlo, Algiers, and the island of Crete.
  • Hear exclusive iMUSE create a musical score that follows your every move.
  • Play and replay - three unique challenging paths to vanquish the Reich.

Quite literally a modern masterpiece

CONGRESS NEEDS TO MAKE THIS GAME ARCHIVED IN THE GREAT CLASSICS OF AMERICA. I am being 100%, incandescently serious, when I say this. This game not only has some of the funniest lines in all of gaming, the animation, drawing, color scheme are all fantastic characteristics which filled many long afternoons and weekends with wonderful memories. This game is not exactly linear either. You can take multiple paths (Wits, Fists, Team) to encounter different parts/situations/scenarios in the game (what have you). Yeah of course you head to Atlantis eventually, but the adventure, in and of itself, is a miracle to behold. What they did with this game was not only transform a huge box office hit onto the digital format, they essentially ran away with the success and made the genre a mega hit among point and clicks. You have games like Quest for Glory, Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, and Laura Bow which are all huge in their own right. But Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis is something else all together. There is really something magical about the 1930s & 1940s and LucasArts beautifully captures the ambient vibe (attitudes, stereotypes, and culture) of the time. The fact that Indiana Jones explores so many places across the world, in his little cargo plane, just in this game, is a testament to the magic of which I am referring. Check out the game - you will NOT be disappointed.

A game design education for less than $5

If you're a game designer--novice or experienced--don't miss this brilliant LucasArts game. From scene to scene, predicament to predicament, puzzle to puzzle, it is a symphony of brilliant design choices. Games like this remind us that most game theory is the bunk. What counts are surprises and imagination.

Its not the years, honey. Its the mileage

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (the adventure game - not the action game - and prequel to this) set the stage for me. It required a 'supercomputer' beyond my means and came at a time when my imagination was at its most susceptible. I would have to be satisfied watching my friend occasionally play it, see occasional pictures, hear about the glowing reviews. When Fate of Atlantis came along, I was finally able to satisfy that unfed curiosity - expectation that had ballooned out of all reasonable proportion ... and somehow I did not come away disappointed. This, for me, was the most influential adventure game I have ever played. I play adventure games to this day in the hope that I'll one day find another to equal the journey this took me on. I don't expect it to happen. And I'll echo the sentiment expressed by so many others: This IS Indiana Jones 4. I tip my hat to those that made it and those that inspired it through film.

How to save the game

The game is amazing;you guys already know that Want to answer a few questions on how to save, as I found this extremely frustrating as I was getting deeper into the game. For Windows users, ALT+1-0 would save games into the appropriate slot, CTRL+ same number would reload them. Masterclass in Adventure Game Design

Never played before; there is no nostalgic bias when I say this is one of the best designed adventure games available. The atmosphere is undeniably Indiana Jones. You visit exotic locales all over the world in a race against the Third Reich to uncover the secrets of Atlantis. You spend some of your adventure with a female colleague, and the dynamics between the leading characters are immersive and fitting. While Harrison Ford does not reprise his role as Indy, the voice acting in the game is fantastic and not overly goofy or cartoony. The true gem of this title is the gameplay. Puzzles generally have rational and rewarding solutions, with no "moon logic" to speak of. The game also provides helpful and intuitive feedback on your actions to help guide you. I never found myself trying every item on everything out of frustration as I have in most adventure games. Unique amongst LucasArts titles, this game features death, three gameplay branches, and multiple endings to explore. This encourages you to replay the game, make decisions carefully and save often. The deaths are few and predictable; just enough for variety but not saturated with danger like in Sierra Online games. Overall, this is definitely worth experiencing especially for the small fee on GoG. This the best Indiana Jones gaming experience money can buy.
