Classic!

Have played the game back in the day. Voted for it to be published on GOG. Bought it again. Installed it and was immersed in it for a week! And all the time I have been re-playing the game it was ocuring to me that most of the features in modern 4X games were already present and well implemented into IG2 in 1999. Admitttedly, the age shows but apart from the graphics (not so terrible even now) the the game mechanics are working (the ability to visit the planet bases is one of my favorite), game performance is smooth and the experience is fun. Recommended.

Legendary space strategy game

I loved every minute of it when i was a young lad. Ive recently played it allso and of course its lost its magic a bit but still a revolutionary title for its time. Too shame that third one never came out. We need Imperium Galactica 3... in todays worold it would be so nice to see the cities on diferent planets. Types of ships and customizing them.. Diplomacy with spy agents ... wow. Its not very story heavy so dont expect that.

Black screen on AMD and Intel GPU

Pretty much this game will not launch on current AMD and INTEL GPU's. This is due to the game trying to use a openGL command that was removed in later versions. This is not a problem limited to just this game but a few remakes. I suspect it was probably a bad hack routine and is why it was removed. There is a fix for this on Linux using a hacked library but if your on windows your SOL. The dev was responding on steam back in 2017 about this issue but seams to have gone silent on the issue. Sadly I did not try playing until a few month's later and cant refund, it was only 3 bucks when i bought it tho so its not a big deal for me. I do wish this was the original version however as that probably would work fine as I can play other titles from 1998 - 2010 just fine with a few tweeks. Since I own this one I will probably see if I cant find the game on some abadonware site or by other means.

Second favorite game next to IG 1

This was a really fun game growing up. They took the concept of IG 1 and made the space battles a lot more visually stunning, though the tank battles suffered some IMO as compared to the original, even though there were more interesting customizations possible. Space battles with fighters zooming about skirmishing is pretty sweet, though I'd like to see more fighters of all the different types on the screen for a more chaotic (and system taxing) experience. I always thought it was weird that you'd have the top tier fighters but in battles they show as tier 1. Colony management is easier with auto build now, and the black market/ship design makes for a lot of interesting ship/fleet/tank types. I do the art was generally a little better in the first game, if not in actual combat. I also wish the colony art was different for different factions, but alas. The addition of spies was also interesting and helpful, or a big thorn in the side. But sending out spies to try and sabotage or assassinate enemies was another intriguing layer.

Return of the king

Imperium Galactica 2 is great game that has special place in my collection. The game as such offers campaign for three main races (Humans, Kra'Hen, Shinari = average guys, warriors, sly spies) plus in skirmish you can play for more. You can build up your colonies, design your ships and tanks by choosing their equipment... Everything you would expect from 4x game. There are some flaws, for expample excessive number of hospitals your colony will need. I even think I heard someone calling this game hospital building simulator. But despite all this, game still plays great and it will be one of those gems that I will keep playing for rest of my life. Only drawback is that this is bascially version that was released as android port, which has its drawbacks. Mainly I am talking about audio, which is a bit more blunt than I remember from PC version. After some updates, it is much better and very close to PC version, but the feeling remains. I suspect that most of the cutscenes have been re-dubbed, with music now not being so loud. All in all, I can still recomend this game to all 4x fans.
