Imagine Earth

A nice refreshing calm feel on stratergy/city building. I love the triangles, i love the little building synergies (could do with more) and i love the struggle with climate. My only issue is the non-cymetrical maps. An few improvement id like to see: - "Overlays" like, where are my shields covering? where are my guns covering? (yes there is a way to see it ingame but its finicky and often hard to even see) - The ability to remove "upgrades" as some are arguably situational and can be unwanted or needed at later points. - Climate could be a little more substantial, maybe planets could start at a "neutral" point and be improved with enough work instead of only a fight against making it worse. I look forward to the posibility of additional content.

It's definitely an interesting game, but the rate at which the game throws objectives at you even at the lowest difficulty prevented me from enjoying it. It only got enjoyable at the end of the missions when I finally had time to actually focus on building and achieving these last one or two objectives without any time pressure, but before that, starting from the second or third mission you always have situations when the clock is ticking, and sometimes the game doesn't even explain to you how you're supposed to achieve something, such as spawning a huge alien mothership right in front of your allies' colony on the other side of the planet, telling you to stop it, after which it throws you into cutscenes where your advisors are slowly talking as the enemy ship approaches your ally, and in the end destroys them, causing you to fail the objective with you having no idea what you could have done about it. And that's on the easiest setting, mind you. Apart from that, the building aspect of the game is pretty neat, especially with the icosahedral spherical planet grid where you build on triangles. Apart from the unforgiving pacing, the game is actually pretty enjoyable.

Great game, looks good, easy to learn, only remark is that the side missions are hard to unlock.

There's a demo available, but it's ancient - from 2016. The demo used to be available on the publisher's website and on steam, but it's been pulled from both. I imagine that's because the demo is no longer very representative of the finished game? That said, I'm not a big fan of let's play videos, so I'll probably be taking a look at the demo before the sale ends. A good game - a positive, colourful, colony simulator.
