Icewind Dale 2 Complete

It is a wonderful game that has succumbed to the advancements of technology. I would hope (if not Beamdog) someone would undertake this monstrosity of code and turn into a fluid, amazing game utilizing either 2nd or 3rd edition rules. Mayhaps even 3.5 edition rules. I'm leaning towards 2nd edition.

This game, way back in 2003 absolutely ruined my studies as a teenager! I remember playing it every which way; good party, evil party, neutral party, all paladins (multiclassed), all wizards, normal play, with cheat codes, with cheat codes and edited characters so they all had 30 in each stat... Goddamn the effects were spectacular, the story was genuinely interesting and cutscenes actually got you involved in the story. The spells, character customisation and story were the first things that really got me into D'n'D. Brilliant game and at less than £3 it's a bargain that deserves to be in everyone's collection.

A little bit different from previous D&D games but still really great.

I had to play around with settings for a couple of hours just to get the game to barely work and crash often. I remember playing IWD in the past and it was never like this :( I hope that GOG staff will improve the installation and stability of this game, sadly for Windows 7 x64 I advise that avoid this title for now :(

After 33h of playtime, in the Fell wood you have to kill 4 Treants at some point, after which there is a "cinematic", in which my game stays stuck forever (I tried three times, also tried after repairing/cheking game files). I don't know why. So of course I'm VERY disapointed. The game was alright until then, even if I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one or BG. AI still not good (sometimes ennemies standing there waiting to get beat up, same thing happens with my characters even with group AI on), pathfinding somehow worse than ID1. That Fell wood part is super annoying... even without taking the game-ending bug intop account. I also prefer ID1 UI. On the good side leveling up feels better than ID1, I really liked how you can manage your characters ability points. Too bad :( But I can't give a good grade to a game I couldn't finish because of a bug.
