Overrated
The visuals look nice. Other than that it sucks. The combat is boring, the sound design is annoying and the story is whatever. When the game works properly the speed of the game is fine besides certain animations, like respawning, that are slow as hell. But on top of that, it has a glitch that causes it to lag and slow down so it gets even worse. It's not worth it.

Looks amazing and has amazing combat. I'm really enjoying how open the game is and there being so much mystery. Sure its pixel art but not cliche, I usually don't care what a game looks like but the art style really adds to the game play. The dash never gets old and slicing a bad dude while dodging an attack is awesome. Buy the game, Heart Machines deserves your time and attention.

Interesting work
It has a retro touch, not only by the graphic design, but also by the gameplay, the atmosphere and the hidden areas. Feels like between a NES and a megadrive game, where first you don't really know what to do, neither where to go. And you discover a little bit more by playing over and over. Some phases are quite hard like it use to be on those consoles. A good metaphor of the disease of the dev. I did not really like the repetitive with simple patterns musics, but they manage somehow to add a bit of atmosphere to this 0 dialog game. Overall it is a mix of many good old games (zelda, diablo, shinobi3...) with its own touch that you should try. I could have put a five star for the linux support which is working perfectly on Xubuntu 14.04. Just install the libs in the description with "sudo apt-get install libc6:i386 libasound2:i386 ..."

Placid Dark Native
This game has a widely known bug where the game slows to a crawl on the 60 fps. I bought it at the Humble Store DRM-Free. The windowed aspect ratio only works as a tiny box, with no options for 1920x1080, for example. The gameplay leaves much to be desired--with so much dodging, there is no dodge-strike, and the lag window between dodge and strike is very long. Sometimes the color of the ground is the same as the character, and you lose where you are during fights. The title is very ironic, since the 60 fps bug is so sluggish, and there's so much backtracking and wandering around trying to find yellow upgrade symbols, so I like to call it Placid Dark Native, the antonym of its claims. No more sliding rock dash puzzles for me, no way. No more pink neon. Glad I paid $6.80 for this I'm dodge rolling it into the bin.
