Explore a beautiful, vast and ruined world riddled with dangers and lost technologies. Echoes of a dark and violent past resonate throughout a savage land, steeped in treasure and blood. Hyper Light Drifter is an action adventure RPG in the vein of the best 16bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale.
Drifters of this world are the collectors of forgotten knowledge, lost technologies and broken histories. Our Drifter is haunted by an insatiable illness, traveling further into the lands of Buried Time, hoping to discover a way to quiet the vicious disease.
From each character to subtle background elements, everything is lovingly hand-animated.
Easy to pick up, difficult to master; enemies are vicious and numerous, hazards will easily crush your frail body, and friendly faces remain rare.
Upgrade weapons, learn new skills, discover equipment and traverse a dark, detailed world with branching paths and secrets abound.

This was the first 2D game I've ever played that made me feel motion sick. Not that it's janky controls courtesy of a 30fps lock helped that any, either.
Oh yeah sure it looks great. I just can't play it.
I have pretty strong laptop that can run graphically intense games on high settings without dropping frames or lagging. But this game, despite its simple graphics style, stutters at around 5 fps. Its nearly unplayable in its current state, and won't be fun unless it gets a fix.
The visuals look nice. Other than that it sucks. The combat is boring, the sound design is annoying and the story is whatever. When the game works properly the speed of the game is fine besides certain animations, like respawning, that are slow as hell. But on top of that, it has a glitch that causes it to lag and slow down so it gets even worse.
It's not worth it.
Looks amazing and has amazing combat. I'm really enjoying how open the game is and there being so much mystery. Sure its pixel art but not cliche, I usually don't care what a game looks like but the art style really adds to the game play. The dash never gets old and slicing a bad dude while dodging an attack is awesome. Buy the game, Heart Machines deserves your time and attention.
It has a retro touch, not only by the graphic design, but also by the gameplay, the atmosphere and the hidden areas.
Feels like between a NES and a megadrive game, where first you don't really know what to do, neither where to go. And you discover a little bit more by playing over and over. Some phases are quite hard like it use to be on those consoles.
A good metaphor of the disease of the dev.
I did not really like the repetitive with simple patterns musics, but they manage somehow to add a bit of atmosphere to this 0 dialog game.
Overall it is a mix of many good old games (zelda, diablo, shinobi3...) with its own touch that you should try.
I could have put a five star for the linux support which is working perfectly on Xubuntu 14.04. Just install the libs in the description with "sudo apt-get install libc6:i386 libasound2:i386 ..."
