HuniePop 2: Double Date

I found Hunie Pop back on steam. It feels like ages ago when I first started playing that game. It was a date sim with puzzles to make sure your date went well. Knowing the person you were with was a bonus. Giving gifts and remembering what they liked or their stats was important. They were more defined as a character. Getting their pictures and getting to the "final" was special. Doing it quickly and with efficiency was a bonus. Hunie Pop 2 is a different game in a lot of ways. There is still the match 3 system. There is still gift giving system. However, it doesn't take long to achieve a reward. Knowing the characters is basically gift giving and match making in game. Not much more than that. Most of the puzzles regardless of difficulty are random luck. Booster tokens don't fall at nearly the same rate. It is still good but gifting is more important than knowing the characters in this edition. Personally I don't believe doubling up to add complexity was a wise choice but it wasn't mine to make. I believe it would have been better if to double up you had to convince the two partners to go with it through knowing them and finding the compatibilities on your own.

I loved the first HuniePop. It was cute, dorky, just sexy enough for me to keep my owning it a secret, and involved a variety of decently-rounded characters to pick my favorites from. I like the silly premise to this one, as well as the gameplay changes, but the characters... Abia: While the notion of a woman from an Islamic culture going overboard in her sexual liberation isn't too farfetched to me, this character is ridiculous in a bad way. Still, she's not the worst. Ashley: I found her amusing at first, but it didn't take long for me to get tired of her flippant arrogance. At one point, she even remarks how I'd be hanging from the ceiling fan without her, and my first thought was, "Lady, in the last game, I seduced the Goddess of Love. Who the hell are you?" Brooke: What's better than one MILF? One MILF other than this one. Any sex appeal she had in her introduction quickly diminished in the face of her opulent indifference. Candace: I'm a sapiosexual. That should explain everything I hated about this character. Zoey: I actually liked this character. It was a nice change of pace to encounter someone who I would think was absolutely bonkers if I weren't being followed around and guided by an invisible sex-fairy. I wouldn't bang her, but I'd happily be her friend. Lailani: Basically Beli, but less curvy. Jessie: She wasn't my favorite in the first game, but I didn't dislike her. I still don't, but damn does her current story make me sad. Kyu: Lady Not-Sexable In This Game. Lillian: A goth valley girl. That is NOT a combination I needed or wanted in my life. Lola: She's not all that different from the first game, but I never really liked her. Nora: Hoo boy, so many ethnic stereotypes. Polly: I don't care that I can choose peach instead of eggplant, because those hips don't lie. Sarah: What's worse than a gyaru? A weeb gyaru.

i realy like the match 3ameplay mechanics in the game each girl has unique and intresting modifiers to the game play, the gift mechanic lets you plan out a stratergy for each date in advance so theres some enjoyable strategic planning, the voice acting is fantastic the girls are reasonably well fleshed out for a porn game and i liked almost all of them the music was nice and fit each date location well BUT the porn part of this game is incredibly sub par it seems to be one picture per pair of girls you date post coitus after the second date, very disappointing

Almost all new Waifus are just bimbos. 2 of the new ones are actually great, the other ones just feel like 20 IQ Meat. Art is Subpar and worse than Pop 1. Also no Kyu = meh.

A solid "match 3" puzzle game (with surprising depth and challenge - don't expect to finish it in an afternoon) where you get rewarded with some hentai sex pics. Nothing more, nothing less. The people complaining about "lack of personality" of the girls, stereotypes or even racism are just hilarious. Of course their "personalities" are over the top stereotypes - I mean they serve no other purpose than being able to quickly differentiate between them. Don't fool yourself - this isn't the kind of game one would play because of story or interesting characters, LOL... Play it for boobs and pink (the way it was intended) and just have fun. The voice acting/music is servicable, the (lewd) art is nice. My only complain is that the upgrading system (buying gifts and understanding what they do) isn't really explained and you have to figure it out yourself - minus one star for that. Otherwise, I got what I signed up for. (The unrated patch is available directly on GOG as a free DLC.)
