Hotline Miami

Action games (indeed even fast paced games) are not usually my thing, so to say I was surprised when I first played Hotline and found I'd quickly clocked up 5 hours with barely a break may tell you something about the type of fun to be had here. The game is played at lightning pace and whilst the violence may be considered a little over the top, it's more in sync with a comic book style of blood and gore. Each set piece or level provides for a superb blend of enemies and weapons, allowing for carefully laid out plans and (as is nearly always the case) those plans turning into a mad dash to shoot, hit, maim and kill your opponents before they do the same to you or you inevitably fire all of your shotguns ammo without hitting anyone. Glee and panic both vie for your attention and it all feels so well connected to the amazing techno electronic (80's?) soundtrack that underscores the experience. There is more depth here also than at first it seems. An interesting if lite and mysterious story seems to provide a background for your actions and some of the most joy is to be had between missions, visiting a store that serves no other purpose than to fill out the gaps and help develop the background of your character. Never has a chicken mask provided so much joy.

At the beginning I thought this game will be to difficult for me. I avoided it. Didn't pay much attention to this title... And than, one day I decided to see why so many good reviews? Hotline Miami IS hard. One shot is deadly, so you will die MANY times. Maybe more often than in Dark Souls :) At some point you stop counting. You will be frustrated. I don't like this "tough as nails" type games... but this title's strength is in short, fast paced levels. You die - you start at the point of entry (usually few steps back ;) No backtracking - no more penalty beyond this "you died, try again" moment. I loved the experience to some masochistic point, that I didn't wanted to stop, so I ended the entire game in few days, but it was VERY satisfying few days. The plot is simple, but constructed the smart way - when you play, you don't understand a thing, until some point - like in Tarantino movies - there comes this "ooo... now I get it" moment. It also has a side-plot. It's pretty funny and let's your imagination write a part of the heroes life you don't see on the screen. AND it has an amazing twist - also very "Tarantino'ish" - I didn't expected it in this kind of game. Controls are great - very simple, let's your reflex and muscle memory work without worrying about which button does what (I advice using gamepad, it's VERY fast paced, but if you're short tempered, use the cheap one... or make sure it's shockproof ;)

Yeah? That's good mate. That's really good. Do you like challenging games? Do you want to have Hotline Bling? Allright... enough questions, you will ask them yourself after playing this game. We don't see games like this every year, its really simple but it's challenging and it's somehow great fun. Even after replaying it few times you will find new things and uncover the Lore and Story of this game and that is really awesome. It still holds up today for many people as one of the best games they ever played, but it's not for everyone, you will have to experience it yourself. If you like challenge, fast action and GREAT and addicting music then... what are you waiting for.

Played this game on Ubuntu Mate 16.04.3 64 Bit. It ran excellently. Now to the meat and potatoes...this game is very well made. The art and music are tops. Has a great 80's/90's action movie sensation. The music will have you amped up for your missions. You will find yourself tapping your feet and probably busting a groove as you play. GORE. GORE. GORE. The meat of this meal is everywhere. Each strike you take upon your enemy is going to land some serious gore all over the map, so long as you have a weapon in hand. Some of the beginning missions will be a bit difficult for new gamers not use this genre since you start out barehanded but that frustration pays off pretty quick once you get use to the game's mechanic. Content. Content. Content. After you play through the game's original content you are given extra missions. I really felt like I've got my money's worth from this game with just me ending it 1x and unlocking most if not all of the mask (still need the horse and 2 others). Some of the mask your avatar wears give you bonuses for your mission. Which makes you play the game a bit different depending on what you pick. This is a full-price game that I got on sale and it's worth the full retail price so much in my POV that I picked up another copy for a friend who has came and played it a few times @ my place.

I sometime buy game by instinct.Several game's have atmosphere that cannot be worded,I’m drawn to it.Hot Line Miami(HLM) is a few such game. It's seemed 80's era Arcade pixel visual,Although I could not feel retro style at all.It's another experience. What' up? I have seen that like style.but It is another game. HLM keeps betraying my prejudice.First impression,I think that endless violence and gore action game(like Killing floor,STRIFE,and Brutal Doom).Actual game playing seem that sometimes psychological thriller, sometimes adveture,and love story.So This game structure is build a lot of exciting element.I could not miss it for a moment.
