Worth the wait.

Got it here with the post release patch I am one of those weirdos that wants a choice in gender and this held me back in buying this title. Having said that I am so happy I made the leap when I saw it on GOG! The positive reviews and DRM freeness pulled me over the edge and darnit it was worth it. This game has it all; I want to chase the story, do that side-quest, find those collectables, can I take on that beast yet, nice a bandit camp, hey I can buy that thing I wanted, where was that trader again, that challenge was fun. Sniping, fighting, jumping and sliding all feel pretty great and the perks you get for leveling never feel over powered but are always noticably helpfull. No quicksaves but savepoints are abundant throughout the huge map and checkpoints in missions feel well placed. I played on hard difficulty and that felt well balanced and fairly challenging. Though I am still an advocate for gender choices in games I see how the story is dependent on a female protagonist and really feel a part of that story, great work and one of my favorite plays of 2020. TL;DR: HIGHLY reccomended buy it on GOG and have a blast!

A Stunning Adventure Worth Exploring

This is an exceptional game that I thoroughly enjoyed playing from start to finish. The game's world is vast and incredibly detailed, with stunning landscapes that make exploring the open world a joy. The story is also a standout feature, with a complex and thought-provoking narrative that kept me engaged throughout. The characters are well-developed and memorable, and their interactions and relationships are a key driving force behind the game's compelling storyline. But what truly sets it apart is its gameplay. The combat is fluid and satisfying, with a wide range of weapons and tactics that allow for a truly immersive experience. The game's crafting system is also a standout feature, giving players the ability to create and upgrade equipment to suit their playstyle. The game's side quests and activities are also well-designed, providing a range of challenges and opportunities for exploration. From taking down giant robotic beasts to uncovering hidden secrets and treasures, there's always something new to discover in it. Overall, it is an exceptional game that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys open-world adventures and immersive storytelling. Its stunning visuals, engaging gameplay, and rich world make it a must-play for any gamer.

a masterpiece

didn't think I'd enjoy another game as much as witcher 3, but this one is definitely another masterpiece: incredible story, gameplay, voice acting, graphics, beautiful landscapes, awesome robo-animals to fight ... there was one particularly memorable region where I encountered robots that reminded me of the old movie "tremors": huge robots (instead of worms) that dig through the sand and attack you from below :-) As for gameplay, it reminds me a bit of a cross between witcher 3 and the new tomb raider reboot, but set in the distant future where people live more primitive lives after our civilization was destroyed and have to fight dinosaur-like robots (you'll have to play through the main quest to find out where those came from ;-) ).

The thrill of the hunt

Game completed twice, new game+ at ultra hard, 100% achievements unlocked. I've read some reviews here and I can't understand why a female protagonist would be a problem. Aloy fits really well in the sneaky nature of the game (try higher difficulty settings, you'll find out it's not about run & gun) and the climbing parts are clearly NOT the core of the gameplay. So what's the gameplay core like? It's about spotting a machine. Stalking it. Choosing the right weapon and the right type of ammunition. It's about setting traps, wires and the likes before the fight. And then lighting the fuse. Never two figths have been the same for me, and having played the game twice you can guess how many enemies I have taken down. There's so many different ways to approach a situation, this game never gets old. My new game+ experience was just as fresh as the first one, I traveled the map and it felt like a completely different environment since I decided to go places in a different order. I found myself wondering if I even visited that place at all in the first run. Yeah, the plot may have a small hole or two, but I deeply enjoyed and appreciated the texts and audio "left behind", I think they add a lot to the game, especially the notes for psychologysts felt realistic given the situation. Overall it's really hard not to recommend this game, it's simply addictive to go around, hunt machines and scavenge for the best coils, to make your weapons even deadlier. Weapon variety is assured by a well diversified arsenal, and weapons can be customized with aforementioned coils. And of course the best coils drop from the most dangerous machines. Don't you too feel the thrill of the hunt? I do, and mine is still not satisfied. As soon as forbidden west is available I'll hop on my charger and ready my bow. New machines to challenge, new lands to conquer, a whole new hunt to enjoy. The thrill never ends.

Wow this game is amazing!

I didn't know anything about this game before I bought it. I watched the GOG trailers, saw some RPG action and story and decided to give it a try. I didn't expect much.. It turned out the be one of the best games I played in the last years! ~50 hrs into the game atm - I rushed the main story because it was interesting and I am now completing the side quests and achievements. I will surely do at least 1 more playthrough on New Game+ (and maybe even go for 100% achievement completion.. it might like the game so much.. but not sure yet :D) The good (and a comparison to The Witcher 3) + amazing and very original world building - the setting, the story, the scenery - I enjoyed this game at least as much as TW3 on my first playthrough. + combat / skills / crafting - somewhat simple and easy to master but very enjoyable, accessible and fluid - really well made, well tested - in my opinion much better than TW3 + graphics / music also very good - graphics is weaker than in TW3 but still good enough to enjoy the game I am happy that Sony decided to release this game for PC. No, exclusive games will never make me buy a Playstation but I will happily pay them money for content like this when it is released on the PC. Looking forward to playing the sequel once it comes to PC. Well done Guerrilla team! (I watched all the credentials after the game ended :D :D)
