Hollow Knight

I never thought I will be back again enjoying old style 2D indie game, but here I am... Finished Hollow Knight for at least a dozen times. First walkthrough took me over 90 hours, subsequent are much shorter - 12 to 15 hours each... It's possible to finish the game for the most obvious ending in under 4 hours, but you'll be robbing yourself of much more exiting experiences and 3 secret endings. Try to find the ruins of White Palace and awake your dream nail And by all means, don't want countless YouTube walkthroughs, you'll be robing yourself of 90% of the game excitement. Music is breathtaking, graphic is fenomenal, difficulty is good but can be too hard sometimes, lore is "hidden" like in dark souls, but when you uncover it, its interesting. Overall, this game is sooo good I whish I could forget about it so I can play it again. Solid 10/10.

If you like 2D platform games, search no more. This game has it all. Insteresting story about a world that once thrived (what happened?). The gradual build up of difficulty and gathering new skills etc. is very good, the pacing is perfect. The world is huge and 'continuous', by that I mean there are pretty much no loading screens when travelling around the world. There's a clever fast-travel system. Many interesting characters throughout the world (some friendly, some hostile) Some bosses are really, really challenging. There many places to explore, each with their unique atmosphere and enemies. This game is a true platformer gem. Definitely buy it if it's on a discount, but considering the content and quality you get, it's worth more than even its full price if you ask me.

This game is extremely well polished and had tons of post content support. The world is well done, the skills are great and the story is just as interesting. Boss fights are tough but fair. Each one will challenge you to do better. The 'souls like' mechanic might cause some people to be turned off, which is understandable. However I can still highly recommend it in light of this.

This game is one of the best in the genre and comes at an extremely affordable price, even when not on sale. The gameplay is basically flawless: all attacks hit as they should and when you get hit or die you know it's because of what you did or failed to do, not because of things outside your control. There are lots of "charms" that give or enhance different abilities, though I found I only used a few of them, but you may use others depending on your play style and experience. Most enemies are cool-looking, and they all generally have unique attacks (some have no attacks other than to hit you by "accidentally" knocking into you), with some being quite memorable. Some bosses are very difficult, while others are beatable on the first try but it's nice to have an easy boss every once in a while. The locations are also very nice, having a decent mix of verticality and length. They all also have several hidden areas, which are fun to find. The only area that's a bit annoying is the one before the colosseum: too much verticality and some annoying enemies. The fast traveling mechanic is not the best out there, but each main area has at least one fast travel point and as you progress you obtain "charms" or abilities that increase your movement speed or dash speed/distance so you can move very quickly. The only gripe with traversal in this game is that you don't automatically get to see where you are on the mini-map, which I hope they fix in Silksong, but it's not the worst thing since you get the charm to be able to see yourself on the map very early on. And if you need that charm slot for something else during a boss battle you can take it out and put it back after. Overall, I highly recommend this game if you're looking for something a bit more challenging that will run on lower-end hardware. Looking forward to Silksong.
