A fun Zelda-ish adventure
Hob is at its best when all of the pieces of its continuously altering mechanical world fall into place. It's genuinely fun to explore its world, and the gameplay is quite satisfying with some caveats. While I understand the necessity for the fixed camera angles, it makes the game's controls sometimes not as accurate as I would have liked, making it possible to misjudge a jump or walking direction on the plentiful narrow ledges. In the latter part of the game it can also leave players directionless when it simply stops giving one a new guide point on the map. This made me wander around aimlessly long enough before I decided to look up help online, and I found out that this is not an uncommon occurrence for many players. Sadly, this glaring flaw will never be fixed in a patch since Runic Games was shut down by their owners Perfect World shortly after Hob released.
