Hob

Hob does a great job of combining action, exploration and platforming. The world and art is very endearing, and it never gets old activating some mechanism only to see an entire section of world shoot out of the ground in front of you. Enemies each have their "thing" they do, providing dynamic combat and opportunities for you to use all of your abilities. My only real criticism is that I wish it was a little longer. Took me about 13 hours to complete without using a walkthrough, and I believe I got nearly all of the "secrets."

One of my favourite games of all time. So sad for Runic. We need more games like ths. Tight, fun, and engaging. x

I typically don't write reviews just because I don't know how to put into words how feel about games but I had to say something about this one. It was so much fun, the puzzles are just hard enough for me (for context I'm not that great at them), the combat is very satifying, and there's just enough upgrades to keep you interested. The game does not hold your hand at all, you have to just explore everything and everywhere to find the answers or find the items necessary for upgrading. I don't know if this will have replayability but im enjoying every minute of my first playthrough. Thank you to the makers for this extremely fun time.

I loved Torchlight I & II, and I had high hopes for Runic games, but they've failed me. They seem to have gone for style over substance with Hob. They forgot that games are supposed to be *fun*. Instead, the exploration is tedious with not much to discover, since the scenary is same-o, same-o everywhere. The platforming is tedious, as you do little but repeatedly go over the same areas trying to figure out where you're supposed to go and what you're supposed to do. And where's the freaking map???
