Hidden & Dangerous 2 is a first and third person tactical shooter that builds upon the tremendous success of Hidden & Dangerous. You lead a small squad of Allied soldiers deep behind enemy lines, to carry out secret missions during World War II. The gripping story line takes you to Europe, Africa, Burma, and other locations scattered across the globe. Each critical decision impacts you, your men, and your country. This unique blend of action, strategy, and tactics forces you to use your brain just as much as your trigger finger.
Hidden & Dangerous 2: Sabre Squadron
Reprise your role as commander of the elite Special Air Services (SAS) in World War II as you take on the Axis Powers in nine new missions set in France, Africa and Sicily. Fight through these campaigns alone or play co-operatively with friends. Sneak past enemy lines, infiltrate heavily guarded bases and outposts, and utilize superior tactics to eliminate the opposition.
Supply your squad with a number of weapons including pistols, sniper rifles, grenades, and bazookas!
A Fully Interactive Environment depicts the ineptness of drowsy guards, the shocking quickness of an elite German battalion spotting your movements, and the terrified look of the enemy as you shove the barrel of your rifle under his nose!
Complete over 20 missions in 9 campaigns from the lush jungles of Southeast Asia to the harsh deserts in Africa. Commandeer a variety of vehicles including trucks, tanks, motorcycles, and planes.
With variety of the maps, guns vehicles and everything else you will spend plenty of time trying to beat these hard missions alone or with bit of modding you can do it also online with buddies.
A really fun game series, most missions are relatively open ended and you can go guns blazing or stealth or mix it up a bit, there are only one or two stealth missions where you have to avoid alerting the guards, first played it sometime between 2003 and 2004 and really got hooked on it, my friends also loved the game we had many a fun lan sessions.
For newbies there is bug on mission 6 Spaghetti Airport where the document may sometimes spawn in one of the crates/cupboards in the hangar and you are unable to attain them, just restart that mission and it should be in one of the pilots tents, I have also seen some fellows that have made a fix for that online but that's for you to decide if you want to download files from strangers.. At the end of the mission I recommend taking the truck with the AA gun, makes the next mission much more enjoyable and easily rid you some pesky bf109's.
Controls are remappable so configure it to a control scheme you are more comfortable with.
For the fellow that's having the problem of guards instantly being alerted while in disguise, make sure you don't have non German weapons and items equipped on your hand and webbing, also stay too long in direct sight of enemy and eventually they will recognize you as not one of their men, there is a stealth meter so keep an eye on that.
For a game released quite a while back in 2003 it has a lot of features, I like the fact that bodies and equipment dont despawn, you have to pick up weapons and search bodies for ammo and other items. The ability to take prisoners which allows us to take their uniforms is also fun, usually works best when most of the enemy in an engagement are killed and you injure the last fellow or just shoot automatic weapons on the ground next to them, sometimes they will eventually panic and run away, if you just chase after them while shooting around them you will eventually stop and surrender.
I cannot believe it has been 14 years since H&D2 was released and the reason for my disbelief is simple: where atmosphere, creative writing and attention to historical detail were concerned, Illusion Softworks (now 2K Czech) were always ahead of the game. These are the people who, when faced with the prospect of making a WW2 FPS, first went out to buy authentic WW2 weapons to better understand how they operated, sounded and felt.
If you want a more realistic shooter with great atmosphere and RPG-lite character progression, this game comes highly recommended. It can be unforgiving and it is not without its faults, but the sheer quality of the graphics, animation, writing and game-play easily stand the test of time.
I have this game on cds. I played at this game many hours.
The game have good fights in cities/villages, good in open maps like desert.
Nice details like laying grass when you crawl or crouch, can shot off helmet from head or you can scare and press a enemy to surrender, and take his uniform. Inventory, you can choose almost everything, big or small backpack, set soldiers as heavy gunner, sniper, medic, silent gunner or whatever you want. It require to plan what you can need in next missions, it works seriously.
Very good thing is that, we have two modes. You can play as regular shooter with orders for your squad or tactical when you need only mouse to control all soldiers and it possible to change whenever moment at the game, for example in desert you play as tactical mode when you coming closer to the building change mode by one button and play as soldier and send orders to other soldiers.
It gives progress of soldiers, if you shoot a lot, then receive more points to accuracy, if use med kits, then increase first aid, if hanging heavy loads then strength.
I can recommend to all loving (tactical) shooters
One of the best games ever made!!! Try to play this as stealthily as possible and you'll be rewarded with incredible gameplay and no tactical game in 1st person came ever close to this!
It's a very lengthy campaign where almost every level is memorable and offers insane amount of replay value. A TIMELESS CLASSIC and a must have in every library!
