Fix for the menu crash

I love this old game... it brings back memories of years past. But. If you are having any crashing at the menu just after the video... this fix worked for me! To fix hexplore.exe so it stops crashing when it gets to the menu on start: [Always make a backup of the file first] Open hexplore.exe in the hex editor of your choice Change bytes 00025AFE through 00025B03 From F7 35 C8 BC 4D 00 To 90 90 90 90 90 90 That’s it. and the game should be fixed. Run dxcfg.exe in the install directory to change your video settings. I am currently running my settings at 1920 x 1080, full screen, aspect ratio on, screen fit, af 16x and msaa at 8x. this is on a 4k monitor and it looks awesome and plays correctly

Nice game. Nostalgia excluded.

Dungeon-crawler somehow mixed up with "Lost Vikings". Let's just say, party-action-RPG in it's best. Quite rare graphics with voxel engine, in full 3D and rotational camera. Simple gameplay and controls system, world is filled with easy and medium difficulty puzzles and dynamic battles. Full voice acting, soundtrack is amazing. And very game is attractive as hell. Never saw it before, but with the first look i fell in love with it. Just give it a chance, and it will swallow you whole.

OMG, I remember this game!

Well, I played this game in late 90s, but it was a memorable experience, so I am writing the review. Back in the day the gameplay was somewhat unique for me, but also very challenging for some moments: I did not get past the Phantoms (if I remember the name correctly) in some dungeon. The inventory system with few unlockable items-abilities is kind of cool, it suits the game's pace and all these trap puzzles. The music, voiceover and design gave it a "warcraft2-like" grim atmosphere, which was nice. Honestly, I was not expecting to find this game ever again. I don't know why, but for almost 20 next years I could not find any information about it on the internet. I even thought that I might got the name wrong (google gave me no relevant search results for "hexplore" all this time).

A classic but addicting RPG

I had this game a long time ago and unfortunately when I changed my computer, I lost it. It's a very classic RPG but very well done too, with all the limitations of the time of course (in terms of technique and gameplay). By playing this game, we find the pleasures of the old-fashioned game: lots of exploration and combat. Of course, this game dates from 1998 but it retains a very nice, rather cartoonish atmosphere. We even get attached to the characters who each have a quality and a flaw to balance the adventure. Everything is not perfect: there are some fairly complicated passages, especially since the screen does not display the area correctly (a problem with screen resolution?); enemies are not very intelligent and rush at you as soon as they see you; there are many back and forths to unlock a new area; the 360 ° view is sometimes difficult to manage. Fortunately, we always want to go further in history, and the music is very well made, totally in the tone of medieval fantasy. The game is sufficiently varied and although linear, makes you want to progress. Too bad there are these flaws otherwise it would be really perfect.

Finally, it is here!

I remember playing the demo in what must have been 1998 or close to it Finally GOG has come through with me on this. I have been trying to remember the name of this game for years, and have been looking forward to it. Always hoping that GOG would add it. Thank you GOG for doing this!
