Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption is an epic fantasy adventure and role-playing game by Lori Ann Cole and Corey Cole, creators of Quest for Glory, Shannara, Castle of Dr. Brain, and Mixed-Up Fairy Tales. Although Hero-U is not a direct sequel to the Quest for Glory games, it features the same mix of adventure, role-playing, humor, and immersive storytelling that we introduced in that series.
In Rogue to Redemption, Shawn O'Conner strives to become Rogue of the Year while exploring a mysterious castle, making friends and enemies, fighting deadly foes, and uncovering the secrets of his own hidden past. Meanwhile players will enjoy the rich and humorous dialogue and descriptions as they guide Shawn through his adventures.
During the day, Shawn attends classes at the University, practices his skills, and tries to make friends with other students. At night, it's time to pull out weapons, armor, and traps to explore the abandoned wine cellars, stunning sea caves, creepy catacombs, and deadly dungeon beneath Hero-U. Most combat is optional for those who prefer a pure adventure game, but there are ample rewards for those who choose to valorously fight the creatures that threaten the school and all of Sardonia.

I think every fan of Quest for Glory series as me will like this game. I've played it almost keeping my breath for days and days and after I've finished my first play I started another one immediately.
So, it's a classic old style RPG with good combat features, but I think the plus of this game that makes the differences wit the others is the deep interactions with the other characters.
There are thousands different paths to follow. Each answer can change the path and the future of Shawn, can ruin a friendship or start a new love.
It's worth playing and the graphics are also good: a lot of hand made drawings, good movements...
There's still something to improve I think (it would be nice of Shawn aspect would change when he changes clothes, for example) but the level is HIGH!
Congrats.
A worthy successor to the old Quest For Glory games. If you loved those, (all available on GOG.com btw) then chances are you'll enjoy this one too.
Sure, there are a few little issues, and Shawn walks a bit like a zombie, but it was easy to get into, and before long it felt just like another QfG, albeit a bit more structured than those much loved classics.
Anybody who loved Quest For Glory (1-5) should definitely check this out. I'm already looking forward to the next instalment, Hero-U: Wizards Way
Rogue to Redemption is a very enjoyable game for anyone that enjoys the gameplay of the Quest for Glory series or King's Quest or even just adventure games in general. The start of the game can feel a bit slow, but the pace picks up quickly and it is good to use the slower pacing at the start to familarize yourself with the environment and layout. The game has great writing and rewards those who dig in and search out everything there is to find. Overall the game is very enjoyable.
Only been playing for an hour... and I am in love with this game. It has a lot of the old QFG feel, but with a new story and better graphics. So far the game does not easily give away the answers to solve puzzles, which I really appreciate. My 10 year-old also loves it, and enjoys the different choices the "Hero" can make.... The puns and jokes are hilarious, making the game even more enjoyable to play, and they bring back fond QFG memories.
So addicting--going to be hard to tear myself (and my kids) away!
