Heroes of Might and Magic® 5 Bundle includes Heroes of Might and Magic® 5 and its two expansions: Tribes of the East and Hammers of Fate.
Heroes of Might and Magic® 5 is a turn-based strategy game in which you can build cities and besiege them, train troops and slaughter them, and explore new lands – and crush them under your iron heel. You directly command your armies on the battlefield and aid them with your character’s abilities as well as your own strategy skills. With six unique factions to choose from, each with its own set of buildings and creatures, Heroes of Might and Magic® 5 provides gamers with the strategy and detailed graphics that the series has been known for. As you progress through the game your character gains levels of experience that allow him to learn new spells and abilities. All this is set in the magical and enchanting setting of the legendary Might and Magic® universe.
I really do not understand why people hates so much Heroes4 and likes this 5 version. Someone can explain me where are those tremendous differences between 3 and 4 to enjoy one and hate the other?
I tried both (first I played 4 then 5 and then 3) and the only one that I did not like was the 5 (due to high expectatives I guess) but from 3 to 4 I only see some improvements like the hero centered and the caravana and the armys without heroes.
What do you dislike? The 4th's IA? Are you saying that the IA was better on 1999 than in 2004??
Thanks for your comments.
First of all, when Neval/Ubisoft took the initiative and take this game to be implemented, everyone was scared in case of failures.
If the computer power of your computer increased, but yet without being too powerful, it should run this game smoothly and enjoyably. You may enjoy the trees, the water and the monsters. The issues of Heroes 4 like the hero to be killed in battle was also fixed, so it will be a nice game that you will likely enjoy!
3 stars.
With the expansion packs installed, the game offers: extremely good gameplay, in its core mechanics similar to HOMM3, with some notable changes, if not improvements. Fun and engaging story. Good old poor AI performance. Graphics have aged visibly.
My main problems with this game have to do with the editor though. Where do I even start?
As primitive as the HOMM3 editor was, it wasn't glitchy and it did everything it should do very well.
The HOMM5 editor, on the other hand, is the opposite.
A few problems, listed:
- No 'undo' option. Just imagine fucking up your terrain by accident and not having an undo button. Tough luck.
- Terrain becomes blurry for some unknown reason, after starting up and opening a map for the first time. Not a very big deal, since you can reload the map and the textures return to normal, but still very annoying.
- No option to turn off sounds, as far as i know. Have fun listening to squeaks, bangs, grunts, moans and several Crystals of Revelation while you work on a map.
- Nothing is thoroughly explained in the editor, for example how to utilise scripts (I know there exists a manual). Everything is made to look so unnecessarily technical and overcomplicated.
The list goes on. By making a near-unusable editor, they've buried a lot of potential.
I bought this game from another site for 5$ and it is worth more than that. It ran in my netbook smoothly. I have also bought and tried HOMM3 but dated graphics and music did not appeal me.
