Heroes of Might and Magic® 4: Complete

Extremely lagging like several fps. Sadly iImpossible to play.

Bad art direction. Ugly and bland to look at when compared to its predecessors (HoMM2, HoMM3), its contemporaries (Age of Wonders, Disciples), and definitely its successors (King's Bounty). I didn't try HoMM4 for very long, but it struck me as profoundly unsatisifying. The reviews were universally negative when it came out, and I can understand why.

It´s hard to give Heroes 4 a fair rating when you compare it to heroes 3, which is with out a doubt one of the best games ever made. I was so excited when it came, but the disappointment was even greater when played it. I remember playing it for a day or two before I broke the CD and threw it in the garbage. It´s not a bad game, but compared to Heroes 3 it´s a joke.

When the game came out years ago, I bought it, played it, threw it away. Literally, that's how much I hated what they did to the franchise. Now, after a very long time, I thought I would give it another chance. But GOG won't let me. There are tutorials how to make it run ok on Windows 10, which is now the dominant system but having to do it by downloading some external stuff somewhere is just not what I expect when I buy an old software created by a defunct company from a current distributor. Both the game and GOG's service in this case are horrible. For potential buyers: no internal or external settings will make it run smoothly on any Windows 10 computer. The problem is bad design, not your computer. There exist two wrappers but the distributor did not get either of them.

Completely unplayable. Shipped with known issues regarding lag and fps. This game will literally give you a headache as you watch stilted animations that played smoothely 15 years ago on ancient computers. And that is if you can get it to start. For me it starts as a black screen which forces you to manually close it with task manager which, for some mysterious reason, then makes the game viewable. Do not buy this trash. Your memories of the game will look better.
