Good game play
For those people who have never played any of the heroes of might and magic games, this is a good game that stands on its own. For those people loving Heroes IV or V, Heroes III is still good to play if you have not tried it, just do not expect 3d or high resolution graphics. It is a good solid game. It might be old but it gives more enjoyment for the game mechanics than some of the newer versions of heroes of might and magic. Game play and mechanics are important. Heroes III still comes in ahead of the newer ones in my opinion for overall play. And that is playing this complete version from the sight.

I joined GOG for this as well
HOMM3 is the best (so far) game in the Heroes of Might and Magic series, and I own ALL of them (1-5). HOMM2 was very good and HOMM3 polished that game to a perfect shine. HOMM4 was a bit of a let down, and I've been trying HOMM5 but haven't gotten into it as much because I'm too busy always playing HOMM3. It's the ultimate "just one more move" turn based strategy game. With the map maker, the maps included in the game, and hundreds of maps to download from the internet, 3 campaigns, and the random map feature, you can get HUNDREDS of hours of quality playing time from this one title. Note: this version runs on Windows 7 but crashes occasionally. This is better than the HOMM3 CD which never crashes on Windows XP and crashes often on Windows 7.

Endless Fun
First off, if you are into turn based strategy games and have not yet purchased this gem of a game, then it was either before your time or you are not as into turned based strategy games as you think. Others before me have noted that this is the best in the series, but there are a few major reasons for this: 1. Random Maps & Games - Think Civilization for this. For some reason, the other games in this series opted out of this for scenarios to build up a story. The problem, is after you finish all the other scenarios, you will always come back to this game because it's random and endless. Buy this game, have your friends play it, then challenge them to random matches of epic fun. 2. Music - I can't stress this enough. You will be playing this game for hours on end, so sub-par music would kill the fun and leave you muting it and listening to Pandora....but this game has great music. 3. Strategy - What makes chess a great game? Balance, and this game has it. Every class is competitive, and once the monsters get too easy for your strategy, you bump up their bonuses, simple. I would rank this game above Panzer General because of the Hero quality, but below Civilization IV because of Civ's online community and graphics. It is equal to Master of Orion 2, but less complicated
