Heroes of Might and Magic® 2: Gold

Do you prefer HOMM2? That's cool. IT'S A GREAT GAME. Much better than the original. It's just that HOMM3 improves on every single element that makes 2 great. YMMV but although I've repurchased it, I rarely play it. 3 gets replayed regularly. I even enjoy the iPad remaster.

first thing is trying to use cheat code ffor this game douse not work and it should i played the batter one of this game for the pc in the 1990 and at lest you can use chets code and they work you need to make all the chets codes work other ways this game sucks comper to the pc of the 1990 game cd

Still have to progress through the main quest, just finished the first mission. Enjoying it thus far. Have to say that the soundtrack is godsend, maybe even better then M&M3! If you like me come from Heroes M&M3, things like interface might be a bit strange at first. But you get used to it fairly quick.

The game itself is great, easily 5 stars. What is really inconvenient is the installer that is provided in the form of a Windows executable. You need either Windows or Wine to extract the game data. Once you have the data, you don't need Windows/Wine anymore. The installer just installs DOSbox anyway. You can use either your own DOSbox/DOS VM to use the provided game engine or you can use the great engine called fheroes2 (https://github.com/ihhub/fheroes2). It seems silly to me and I would prefer if I could just download the game data from GOG directly as a zip/tar without going through the Windows installer.

Something I had always wanted to purchase, but never had the chance. Well, after buying, it I can tell you the clock went from midnight to 4 am before I notices the change. That is quite simply how good, in a nostalgic way, this game is. Sound and graphics are very dated but the basic mechanics of the game are still golden. A keeper for years to come.
