Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

I've only played about 1h, but most of the time I was pretty bored by the lackluster gameplay. This game is a fantastic audio-visual experience... but it's very poor in terms of mechanics... There's no real puzzle, you just have to find the symbol or the totem to progress to the next area, nothing clever about that. The chapter 2 is basically : find the symbol to progress to the next area -> find the totem to progress to the next area -> find the symbol and the totem to progress to the next area - > find the two symbols and the totem to progress to the next area -> find the three symbols and the totem to progress to the next area... That's where I called it quit... Nothing challenging about that. Even a headless chicken could "solve" this by wandering aimlessly around the map... I don't mind repetiting mechanics spread through the game, but doing this 4-5 times in a row... Combat was also pretty repetitive, with the same basic ennemy attacking you each time. Overall, the game rely too much on its audio-visual experience, and forgets to make the gameplay actually engaging.

'Little' only because its duration (6~8 hours), but the price compensates that. TIP: It's even better with earbuds.

This game will be divisive. If you don't enjoy slow and obscure movies then this may not be for you. The gameplay gets repetitive, the puzzles aren't perfect, but the direction and intent of this game outweighs any small blemish. I was simply blown away by this and would recommend it to anyone, but I know some won't find it "fun"

This game is awesome! The graphics rule, one of the most realistic faces and bodies I've seen in gaming yet. Wow! The game itself follows a mentally unstable woman and does this quite great. You get to feel and see what she experiences, nice work! However, the game itself is nothing more than a walking sim with several interesting, but easy perspective puzzles. No critic here, it plays very well, but don't expect an action game. Oh, and the fighting! I have to take one star away for the abomination that is combat in this game. I have not seen such a disastrously annoying, frustrating and broken combat system since RYSE. It is unbelievable how this rape of gameplay could have survived testing. My advise is to "mod" combat out of the game, for example by using a cheat (trainer) that gives you one-hit kills. So: Remove the fighting "sequences" (trying to avoid harsh language here) and experience a really extraordinary game. Just do it.

A wonderful game full of Viking myth and truly disturbing. If you can stand the voices and get into the game this is one of the best I have ever played. Play with headphones.
