Haven Park

Bought this on a whim, a lovely little exploration+building game with nice graphics and a pleasant soundtrack. Cheered me up when I was feeling particularly low.

This game is a fun little exploration game with a tiny bit of management and camp building. The way it is presented made me kind of fall in love with it. The graphics are not high-end, but absolutely beautiful to look at. The design and art style are pretty well done. The game has a very basic skill system and also a simple quest system. Those absolutely fit into the design and work well. You can't die in this game, not even from falling from a great height. This is a welcome change from all those hardcore games in the indie-sector these days. When you start the game, it offers you to select a save slot. The game automatically saves, but it does it very often. Once I had this game crashing but I didn't lose any progress or something like that. Don't expect this game to be very long and very deep, it's just a fun little relaxing exploration platformer and all the dialogs are friendly and sometimes even funny :)

Ok, its clearly based on A Short Hike. I think A Short Hike is a better game, so Haven Park only gets 4 stars. However, Haven Park is a really nice great game that plays well, looks good and has a nice relaxing pace. The mechanics are not extreme. Collect some wood and build a camp comprised of tents, campfire etc. Good price, great for kids.

The main plot of normal play can end in about 2-3 hours. But after the main plot, the game will not really end, but just begin. If you want, you can build camps, interact with NPCs, complete missions, and explore maps in depth.
