FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
Please don't do this to us and to yourself CD PROJEKT RED, we all really love you games and we began to love Gwent while playing it in The Witcher series, I even loved dice poker, but not as much as I like playing Gwent, sometimes I would forget about the quests and I would play Gwent for hours challenging the innkeepers and merchants was one of my favourite things, plus I would always get frustrated if I would get a bad drop after the game, anyways please give us back the old Gwent, Thronebreaker should be a separate thing. I mean you could lose some fans if you continue doing stuff like that, please don't become one of those money grabbing companies which gives few good games and after that they don't give shit about their fans, we are not asking for much, we won't tell you what to do, we will just tell you if the things you are doing are good or bad, and until now, they've been great.
So guys, keep up the good work and give the same experiance with Cyberpunk 2077 as we had with The Witcher: Wild Hunt, if not even better!
Plus give us back the old Gwent...
This game thinks my PC is an Xbox. The menus are impossible to navigate with a mouse and keyboard, and it thinks that there is an Xbox controller connected. What a slap in the face of the platform that made CD Projekt who they are and supported them via GoG.
After some quick internet research, it appears this is a known bug going back to ALPHA 2 years ago. Potential fixes involve renaming files in your windows/system folder. Yeah, I'll get right on that.
Game uninstalled. There are too many good options out there to waste time monkeying around trying to get this one to work.
I've played since the beta but it never did catch me long enough to love it. Now that Homecoming is out, I've been playing it non-stop. The innovation is good enough to push gwent on its own and it's really come far from its humble beginnings as a mini-game in Witcher 3. Great job CDPR and hope you'll continue to listen to all of us!!
I enjoyed the Gwent in Witicher 3. I enjoyed the Beta. It was fresh, felt like Witcher 3 Gwent but with more polish, some more depth. The Beta Gwent had new cards, interesting and functional mechanics that worked and worked reliably. I thought the full released would simply be more polish on what the Beta was. It wasn't.
To be honest, Gwent is boring. Slow. Combinations are slow or easily broken for some factions, other factions just build very easily (Monsters) and, honestly, the 'neutral cards' don't even make sense. (Witchers usable in Monster decks?).
Every win or loss feels random. Each game becomes a 'play every card until someone wins by a smidge' fest. And it is a smidge. A win or loss comes down to the final card played, which boils down to a lot of effort for absolutely no reward for skill, tactics or any strategy. Just final card luck.
On top of final card draw winning matches 99% of the time, the game itself is tedious. Want to pull off a card comination? Good luck, it'll take you three turns and nothing happens fast because, one interruption basically ends your combo. Many players forfeit out of frustration the instant you break their combination in round 1.
You can 'win' by a mile one round and lose the next two by a fraction... and because you lost 2 by a fraction, you lose overall. Why not just play 1 round then and do away with '2 out of 3' nonsense? Oh, and if you do well in one round and are on the way to win the 2nd, your opponent will just forfeit rather than play out the game anyway. Why waste time, right?
Thronebreaker felt great, it felt alive. It had story, interactions, unlockables, and I have to say, the actual Gwent side of it was much, much, MUCH better. Thronebreaker was fast and fun and played with the format by challenging you to 1 round takes the win, strategy changes etc.
Gwent just isn't fun. Wait for a patch, an update, or an overhaul.
