STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD

Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.

MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY

Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.

EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY

Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.

NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS

You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?

The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.

Not my gwent

Started playing gwent in november 2016 and had a lot of fun till the infamous midwinter update. I had hoped that HC will bring back gwent's former glory, but the title of the project is totally misleading, because it's a completely new game and most of the things I've loved about old gwent are gone. Changes I don't like: - handlimit + 3 redraws per round makes passing during the first 6 turns pointless - the game is so damn slow - new mulligan system without blacklisting makes good draws more important. Post MW gwent was too consistent, because of all the tutor cards, but they've completely overdone it with lowering consistency (new mulligan system + 2 bronze copies only were uneccesary changes) - they removed a row for better visuals, but I don"t care much about card size. Changes that should make rows meaningful again (they are more meaningful than post MW, but less important than during CB) could have been implemented with 3 rows. The reach concept for example would be much more interesting with 3 rows. Everything feels worse on 2 rows for me. - I'd prefer playing on a wooden board instead of throwing my cards in the dirt, but that's just my personal preference. More problematic: the boards looks to cluttered and information isn't represented well (rows and row score doesn't allign for example). - I've loved the highly synergistic gameplay strongly focused on archetypes. Sadly they've gone away from that concept. - Overall card design isn't very well. Too much boost, damage, destroy. I know things like strengthen can be a problem if not implemented properly, but without such concepts the game becomes boring. - Gwent is out of beta now, but it looks like a game in an early beta stage (poor balancing, bugs...) - RNG bs like reveal (why?) - some really binary cards and concepts ...... Overall, I can't enjoy the game, actually I really hate it. Two stars for good economy and amazing card art.

Gwent was and will always be in our hearts, amazing little break between slaying monsters and searching for Ciri. Requiescat in pace my friend, this Templar filth replacing you will soon die.

It's just not fun

I played this back in 2017 and decided to give it another go. They changed some of the weaker aspects (3 lanes, all gold cards untargetable) and added a more interesting progression system (Reward points). Unfortunately this does not change the fact that the game is frankly rather boring. Every match takes 2 or 3 sets. You're stuck with the cards you start with, there seems to be little drawing. Interaction is rather limited and it can feel like you're two people playing Patience [Solitaire]. There's no combat, you can only play 1 card per turn and you only use 12-15 cards for the entire length of the match (which can easily take 10 minutes). The game also still has a bad interface, crummy default filter settings in the deckbuilder (show unowned cards as the default?) and serious connection issues. Two of the three games i won were due to people losing their connection. Oh god, and why did they get rid of automatic turn ending? You literally can't do anything after playing a card, what possible reason could there be not to auto-pass?
