STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD

Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.

Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.

MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY

Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.

EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY

Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.

NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS

You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?

The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.

Ranked (non pro) Play is worse then beta

The good Winstreak concept makes climbing from bottom to top easier The bad ''Season tree'' used to earn exclusive season based content arent online yet... wtf its been like 3 months into launch? Concept END OF SEASON FINISH to earn borders, titles and avatars for the top 1 - 1000 ( eventually top 10K ) SEEMS to be removed..... conclusion why would u even spend time grinding the ranked ladder when theirs 0 incentive to play... kegs, individual reward tree, boardskins whatever you can earn literaly means nothing looking back upon the beta season rewards. games at high rating 4500 Season 1 - 4300 season 5-11 were tense cause everyone was working to earn the exclusive gear (GOLDEN DRAGON, WILD HUNT KING AND OTHER WERE SO FUCKING COOL.) people got really mad and salty over these games cause the finish mattered that much. Now its not even close to entertaining ( homecoming is an base set after all) or fufilling ( 0 exclusive shit thats difficult to obtain a la end of season finish like the early beta days of top 1 / 25 for instance) to spam games and reach high ranked.... Hope we get an new ranked system in like 9 months but for now (20januari) till the march expansion and even maybe further in the year theirs literaly 0 reason to play the game on an ''competitive'''level i.e spamming 5hours an day and 7-10 in the weekend unless your in the 0.0000001% of the playerbase to qualify for the esports events through pro ladder...

From Beta to Worse?

I'd never played a card game properly outside of playing poker with my friends. I had heard of Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone but I never saw any sort of appeal to them or these types of games. I generally preferred FPS/MOBA's and what not. Along comes Gwent, it was gifted by a friend during the Beta phase a few years back. Gwent's aesthetics did appeal to me more so, but it was still just a card game. It sat there looking at me for a while and in the end I just thought what the hell and dove straight in. So after a few frustrated days/nights of learning and watching my deck disappear while theirs accumulated points and buffs. I finally managed to win a match and god it felt good. I ended up climbing the ranks to around 4k before I just stopped playing altogether because of all the balance changes. 2 years later I remembered I enjoyed this game. Came back and its now down to 2 rows instead of 3, you can only play 2 bronze cards instead of whatever you could squeeze into your deck and many other new card mechanics thrown into the mix. I relearnt the meta and how to build a new deck and yep, its the same game just more refined. I'm still not great at it but really enjoying it all the same. Especically the deck building. Highly recomended to anyone who likes skill based tactics with a hint of RNG just to keep it fresh each time. (Not sure why it's free and only on gog. They could sell it for $5 on steam and make a killing from it, even with steam taking 40% or whatever it is they take now.)

Game ruined by development changes

I remember the videos online with how it used to look at the beginning of the release, the beta, when the tutorial involved Ciri teaching Geralt Gwent, when there were still 3 rows and the core mechanics, card values, and game rules were close to the ones from The Witcher 3 game. If that's what you're looking for, don't bother to install this one. The only thing it has in common with that version is the name. It's boring, takes a long time to get used to, if you want good cards you'll have to reach into your pockets. Disappointed that they destroyed a good game like that for some quick $. I think many classic Gwent fans would pay 4-5 bucks for the beta(early) version, they wouldn't buy cards to actually have a chance of winning a game in this new version.
