Grim Dawn - Forgotten Gods

Forgotten Gods DLC's problem that it comes after the epic masterpiece that was Ashes of Malmouth. It is of course a very well done expansion full of content and new game mechanics, but there are some things that I do not like. First of all, the overall "feel" was like a visit at McDonald's. While Malmouth and the base game created sad and depressing world that felt believable, Forgotten Gods comes with colorful alien realms, exploding volcanoes and giant flashy explosions (final boss fight feels like japanesse anime). To me, it all felt out of place. Next thing is a story that has almost nothing to do with previous events. You can start Forgotten Gods anytime after you finish Act 1 so this whole thing is like a giant side-quest, similar to Hidden Path.

This game has so many rare features compared to other games nowadays. The developers actually balance the game, regularly visit the community ideas, actually care about how their game plays (and it is quite enjoyable), and on top of all of that, they still manage to price their game in the reasonable range during a time in which every other game is $60 + 10x $3.49 DLCs or $120 for the ultimate edition. This game brings me back to playing Diablo as a kid, but with proper values for buffs/debuffs/mechanics in general. D3 was such a flop, and I think Grim Dawn took that opportunity to make what we all wanted as successor to D2 and TQ and brought it to fruition, and this expansion added a lot of new flash to help keep the game fresh. I first bought this game through steam in its beta stage. I played what was available at the time and really liked it. Since it became available on GOG I have re-purchased it and its DLC. If you love the old school Diablo 2ish gameplay, but with a bit more depth, then just try the darn thing. There is no better feeling then leveling up and adjusting your gear, and getting in the middle of a fight with enemies coming from all sides. Your fingers are button mashing while your brain is considering your next spell or action, only to kill the last monster as you are 2 seconds away from death. This is just great fun. You can get as involved as you want with this, or just level up and try to get the best gear you can to go into a warriors frenzy. I do not normally comment on games, but this is just pure fun as you uncover the fog of war discovering your maps secrets. Simple to start and learn but has as much micromanagement as you prefer. Just go get this for hours of fun gameplay. Full Stars.

This is visually different than original game and Ashes of Malmouth and it is quite welcoming in my eyes. There is a new questline with unexpected enemy. The only complain I have is that map is not directly connected to the current one but map in map crop connected via teleport. Other than that - spot on. This expansion has a some portal/gate which generates maps for player to play as an end game content. I really love this feature. Of course there is this new clas with it as well.
