Description
Enter an apocalyptic fantasy world where humanity is on the brink of extinction, iron is valued above gold and trust is hard earned. This ARPG features complex character development, hundreds of unique items, crafting and quests with choice & consequence.
  • Dual Class - Combine any of six distinct classes with over 25 skills and modifiers per class. Base classes include Soldier, Demolitionist, Occultist, Nightblade, Arcanist and Shaman.
  • Hundreds of Item Skills - Augment your class build with a diverse array of over 250 unique skills granted by items and equipment add-ons.
  • Collect hundreds of Items - Common, magical, rare, epic and legendary classes of loot. Plus over 20,000 possible magical affix combinations and over 200 rare affixes.
  • Quests with Choice and Consequence - You will face tough decisions that leave significant impacts upon the world. Strangers on the road, desperate families and even entire villages may live or perish based on your actions. Currently over 35 quests with 75+ lore notes to be collected.
  • Friendly and Enemy Factions - Earn favor with human factions to unlock additional quest lines, vendor discounts and special faction-based items and augments. Some neutral factions can be turned into allies but aiding one will make the enemy of another. Hostile factions will remember your deeds and deepen their hatred of you, sending out large packs and elite heroes to hunt you down.
  • Devotion, an additional layer of skill customization allows you to acquire bonuses and powerful secondary effects for your class skills. These are unlocked from a giant constellation map with points acquired by finding and restoring destroyed or corrupted shrines hidden throughout the world.
  • Rebuild the World - Help human enclaves survive and flourish by securing vital necessities, rebuilding structures and rescuing survivors who can then lend their services to your cause.
  • 4 Person Multiplayer - Connect with Friends or make new allies in glorious multiplayer. Multiplayer encounters will put your teamwork to the ultimate challenge.
  • Fast-paced Visceral Combat - Enemy blood spatters, ragdoll physics and satisfying enemy death effects. Smash in doors and fight house to house, leaving a path of demolished furniture in your wake.
  • Rotatable Camera - If you choose to survey the full beauty of the world and always fight from the most optimal angle. Levels are still designed so that players are not forced to rotate the camera; it is purely optional.
  • Secrets and Perils Abound - 200+ Enemy heroes and bosses, hand-configured with their own unique arrays of deadly skills. 20+ secret areas hidden behind crumbling walls, hidden gaps and mysterious locked doors. Explode obstacles or repair structures to open new paths.
  • Rogue-Like Dungeons - Descend into special locked challenge dungeons that require a rare crafted key, where enemy levels increase as you progress and player teleport is disabled. There is no way out except to complete the dungeon or die trying.
  • Dynamic Weather - The world is brought to life with region-specific climates and a variety of weather effects. A sunny day can cloud over with mild rain showers that builds into a booming thunderstorm. Variable wind gusts blow grass and affect objects like windmills.
  • Recipe Based Crafting - Collect over 250 crafting recipes that allow you to combine salvaged components into unique crafted items and then, later, use those basic crafted items with higher-tiered recipes to complete items of amazing power.
  • Reclaim Skill Points - The ability to pay to reclaim points alleviates the fear and frustration of having to make early, uninformed skill choices that could permanently gimp a character.

Impressively good balanced game

I like the beginning of Diablo 3. Not it's end game when you just have to run very fast all time. I didn't like the 1st act of GrimDawn but get addicted once I finished it. The balance in this game is so good. You can play whatever gameplay you like. They are all viable. There is no mode where only a few builds can succeed like Diablo. The hardest difficulty mode "ultimate" forces you to maximize resistances to stay alive. That's good because otherwise you will one shot every mob or don't fear death anymore. This build diversity brings lot of fun. You can do builds based on attack speed, life leech, retaliation, poison, pets, dual pistols, etc... It's up to you ! The gear is dropped at a good rate (not to much, not to low) and you can filter what you see on screen (for example, in ultimate, I only care about legendaries items so I don't see other loot on my screen) End game is about getting the perfect gear for your playstyle. There are many great items, but for many playstyles. It can be long to find the appropriate one for yours. Hopefully, you can trade with other players in multiplayer games. In the mean time you will have found so great items for other playstyles, you will reroll a character for it :)

Pretty Good ARPG, except...

tl;dr;A pretty good ARPG, except it runs terribly and spikes in difficulty. I've played this game for almost 38 hours and just gave up, I was enjoying it for almost that whole time before however. For whatever reason this game will either run very well, or start to melt. My guess is that because this game is "open world" it keeps areas you just left fully loaded. Maybe my rig just isn't strong enough, but I can run it at High with all the bells and whistles on just fine. But if I die or teleport (or even sometimes just walk into another area) the game just starts melting on my GPU. So I'm not comfortable playing this game anymore, atleast not on my current set-up. Maybe I just built a rig that wasn't strong enough, or maybe you need a military super computer to run this game (and yes I tried playing it low with no extras, didn't help at all). Secondly I think this game has a huge difficulty spike after the second big boss. Maybe my character build (the conjurer) wasn't good, but I was playing on normal so I'm not sure if I could reasonably chalk that up to just my own incompetence. And since even though I'm level 50; I'm not allowed to change classes. So I would have replay another 30 something hours to get back to that point just to see if another build could handle this difficulty spike. All in all; Its a good game, but if you aren't the biggest fan of Diablo or other isometric RPGs, or if you dont have crazy alien tech computer I'm not sure if I could reasonably reccomend it

Made the switch

I picked this game up last week and have already sunk 12 hours into it. I made the switch from D3 to Grim Dawn and I am never going back. The amount of love and detail that went into making this game is phenomenal. The gameplay is fluid and the graphics are outstanding. There is a lot of depth to character development. I l enjoy the dual class aspect of the game. You are tailoring a character that fits your playstyle. Grim Dawn doesn’t hold your hand as much as other ARPGs that I have played in the past. The community, game guide and forums found on the website are a huge help. I foresee many hours lost in playing Grim Dawn for months, even years to come.

Good but not earth-shattering

If you liked Torchlight, this is better but grim instead of cartoonish. If you liked Titan Quest, this is better in all respects. If you liked Diablo, this somehow has more heart and character and is way less demon-emo. Also one of the few good co-op games out there. Glad I bought it, glad I played.

A decent ARPG

Well, it is a deccent game. It works fine, no problems so far from running it. It is a bit difficult to sort out everything, because in contrast to many of new games and the King of the series (IMHO) Diablo games, the sort of information that helps you make your choices are very rare and needs to be sifted through. You do learn a bit as you go on, but it is hard to know what will benefit you or your play style in the long run. Fewer and better would have been a smarter design choice in my opinion. Now it seel almsot like they have gone overboard with including as much as poissible and well, there is a lot to this game. But so much you almost drown as a new player and the story and setting is my opinion a bit lacklustre. It reminds me in a sense of the first Sacred game that way. The story unravel's as you play. The many quests you get are really a sort of chance to find the different enemies or items you need to pick up. How to solve them, figure it out, if it feels worth the time. To me, it deserves only a 3 because the way these games ahve developed over time as a genre leaves this game in the rearviiew mirror a bit. A good game, and had it been 2006 and not 2016, i would most likely have been extactic. Now, it's decent as I started. A good effort and a playable game that yields many hours with it's many classes, items and choices.
