Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition

With this game the publisher tried to milk the name 'Gothic' for as much money as they could, after they broke up with Piranha Bytes. As could be expected by then, they skipped every form of quality assurance, trusting that the fans would fix the game themselves. Well, the community did remove some bugs and made the game actually playable, but not enjoyable. Everything which made Gothic great (interesting characters, believable world and atmosphere) is missing. What's left is a boring 'game' that is certanly not worth 10$. Not even 5. As someone else already wrote here: this could be included in Gothic 3 as an extra. But asking for money for this sorry excuse of a game is just inappropriate. Short version: don't buy or you will be disappointed.

I love Gothic I and II. They are some of the best RPGs available out there. They are not perfect by any means but they are good RPGs. They give you freedom, a good challenge and an interesting story. Gothic 3 was never fully finished and I can only say the game is clearly unfinished and, as such, not remotely as good as the first two games. But this abomination is something else. This is a bad game. Gothic deserved a good ending, not this shit. Forsaken Gods makes no sense from a story point of view, has bad quests, bad mechanics, it's buggy and it's broekn. I despise this thing. This is a worse sequel than Fallout 76. Don't buy this game. Don't give them money.

Though the ambiance (soundtrack, graphics, gameplay) is exactly the same as the great original Gothic 3, the content (quests, dialogues, voice acting, etc.) is pure cr*p. Buggy as hell, you can't even finish most of the quests due to numerous problems in the quest lines. Voice acting is ridiculous, dialogues are useless and quests that actually work are too easy. Buy at your own risk!

The enhanced edition barely makes the game playable. The biggest problem in my opinion is that the original game was 3x in size compared to this EXPANSION. Just look at the map of this game and compare it to Gothic 3. The second major problem: The community was already complaining about Gothic 3 generic worldbuilding, repetitive quest and hasted design. Well, Forsaken Gods makes Gothic 3 look like a rare piece of art in comparison! Simply avoid it. Even if you liked Gothic 1-3 and would just like ANY additional content - skip it. It will only make you annoyed. Instead, try Risen 1 or mods for Gothic 1-3.

This game has nothing at all to do with the Gothic series and its even worse the Arcania. Its an abuse of the good name, a cheap excuse to make money and its no fun at all. Its not even worth the digital space on your harddrive.
