The Best RPG Game.
I don't care what anyone says. Of all the numerous rpg games I have played of the 2000's, this is the one I have most enjoyed.

Gothic II: Gold Edition brings together the excitement of Gothic II and the add-on Night of the Raven to your fingertips!
You have torn down the magical barrier and released the prisoners of the Mine Valley. Now the former criminals of the forests and mountains are causing trouble around the capital of Khorinis. The town militia is powerless due to their low amount of force–outside of the town, everyone is helpless against the attacks of the bandits.

the best RPG ever made
nothing compares to Gothic 2's atmosphere and immersion. You can tell how much effort the developers put into this. The score used throughout is incredibly memorable, as are the unexpected and entertaining dialogue options. Let's just say there's a reason I return to the Gothic series every other year, compared to other fantasy RPGS that came out around the same time *cough cough Morrowind*

So much to be said in so few words
Gothic 2 carrys a list of both flaws and greatness. The game itself is fully voiced over something thats rare in a lot of games. Sure the graphics don’t look top notch but thats only minor. The sound of the game I found amazing due to all NPC's talking while just walking around and the combat sounds except for Diego why change his voice his old one was awesome. For those who played the first one its like diving right back into the game with expanded everything new and old foes alike returning. I really valued this game as being something great even with its few bugs still Also its cheat mode is fun to play as you can spawn monsters anywhere and watch helpless people run in terror or fight to there death. The game has a ton of replayabilty in it as well as you can play the game as a Paladin in 1 game but a Mercenary in a different one or choosing combat style like being a mage or melee or a mix This game only lacks 1 kind of combat and thats duel wielding but thats np Lockpicking and Pickpocketing are fun lil things to do around town unless you are noticed You will find a lot of moments of great things and a lot of harsh battles but ones things for sure you will have tons of fun and memories.

Outstanding
The start of this game was almost a gamebreaker for me(difficult), I followed that voice that kept saying just level up a little more. This turned out to be one of the best RPG's I have ever played!!!

Tragic on every level
This game is horrible. I wanted to like it, I really did. Gothic 1 was a nice, goofy RPG and even its quirkiness and archaic design decisions didn't stop me from having a blast. I heard that Gothic 2 without the expansion was just like Gothic 1, but bigger and better. Now, Gothic 2 WITH the Night of the Raven... is just terrible. Awful. Mind-numbingly bad. Apparently the community complained that Gothic 2 was too easy, so the developers listened and made this steaming pile of elephant ****. Imagine Gothic 1 but you can't progress through the game because the difficulty is increased tenfold. Night of the Raven throws balance out of the window. Player character has barely any stat points in the beginning and even the weakest weapons require an absurd amount of strength/dexterity. As a result, fighting anything more demanding than a bloodfly or a wolf is just impossible as you will get killed while dealing no damage to the enemy. Damage doesn't matter because the entire fighting system is based on critical hits. You get critical hit chance by spending skill points - the same skill points that you could be spending on, you know, stats? By the way, enemies can crit too - you'll know when you get oneshot out of nowhere. Totally fair, right? The first half or so of the game is spent entirely on running errands for annoying NPCs and backtracking while avoiding enemies. The quests are bad and the story doesn't matter. Then you hit a wall and most likely have to google that you're supposed to finish the entire f***ing DLC to go on with the storyline. Which can't be done, since you can't fight anyone. The way I see it, the only way to finish this damned game is to grind for countless hours to even have a chance. The controls and the story are just as bad as in Gothic 1, but they make no difference in the bigger picture. I have no idea how Gothic 2 Gold Edition got so many 5 star reviews. It's archaic, it's unfair, it's boring. Don't play it even if you get it for free.
