    Description

What could happen to two lovers who decided for a short break in Venice, Italy? Among all the possible scenarios, being pulled apart and tricked by a demon is certainly not what Daphné and Luca were expecting.
Awakened as a pure soul in a twisted world he doesn’t understand, Luca is trapped in the reality of Buer, a demon with ulterior motives.

He will have to find his way back to Daphné and his own fleshy sheath, solving puzzles and using whatever he can to get back to his life: notes, books, spirits he will encounter, decor, and Buer's (partial) information.

Goetia as a series is built on one cornerstone: in these point-and-click adventures, you act as a pure (kind of) living soul.

And what happens when you do not have pockets? No inventory.

Rack your brains and keep an open mind: everything can help, from the notes to the decor. Above all, your actions in some rooms may have consequences elsewhere. And there’s a lot of “elsewheres” in Venice – especially when it’s the demons’ version of it.

    Explore Venice

More than 80 rooms to explore, each with its own atmosphere and challenges, divided into 5 areas to explore. From the old classic venetian mansions to the abandoned islands of the lagoon, you’ll uncover many secrets related to the art of summoning demons.

    No inventory

Luca awakens as a pure spirit. How could he grab objects and keep them for later? Instead of the classic inventory system, Goetia is all about possessing objects to move them around.

    A wall? What wall?

Spirits walk through walls, it is known. As well as ceilings and floors. There’s no place you won’t be able to reach, unless something (someone?) stops you. Or if you wander around possessing an object.

    Choose your path

There are 5 different areas to explore in Goetia. You will start by the archives, and then make your way through various other places in Venice. When all areas are discovered, you can go back to any room, anytime, to solve puzzles, gather more intel or just enjoy your walk freely.

    Get stronger

During your quest, you will find some special capacities that will allow you to understand and see more of this strange Venice.
But beware: as appealing as they might be, getting these powers also means you’ll get a bit too comfortable in this world where you don’t belong.

    Quite enjoyed it.

It is pretty decent puzzle game, but there are a few small bugs (such as rag icon in Abandoned Island part 2 vanished after I moved to a different place in the first part); none broke a game for me but those I've encountered let to backtracking through all the rooms, which was frustrating. Sometimes when I press the button to skip the dialog it skipped over two lines at once. Music and sound effects are nice. I really liked the surreal world that demon(s) built. I wish more demons were present in game, not only Buer. The story isn't too clear to me (why Luca and Daphnie ended up in a situation they did?) and there are some callbacks to the part one (so if you played Goetia 1 a long time ago or didn't play it, it might be confusing who Anne is). Overall it is a decent, fairly short puzzle game with some ends left dangling, but I just wish it was a bit more polished and the story somewhat better written.

    Decent but underwhelming sequel

The first part was a real surprise for me, I didn't expect much and I loved it. So I got really excited when I discovered, also by chance, that a second part had been released. However, my initial excitement turned into doubt when I read the first reviews on other sites, mixed and rather inclined towards the negative side. Still, after all these years I kept very fond memories of the first one, so I couldn't help being very curious about this new one. Finally I decided to try my luck and got it. The game is not as bad as those initial reviews made me think, but I do see the reasons behind such opinions. While it's certainly an interesting game, it doesn't come anywhere near its predecessor, and in general feels unpolished. I think that everything was much better connected in the first game; yes, you started knowing nothing, but the story unfolded smoothly and in general it was always clear what needed to be done. Everything had a reason. Also the puzzles had enough clues, even if they were hard sometimes (like the infamous music one). However, in this one I had several moments of not knowing what I was supposed to do, and the clues for some puzzles were minimal. The fact that the story isn't really clear does certainly contribute to this, and although I won't spoil anything some quests feel artificial, no actual reason is given. The gameplay is similar, and so are the graphics and the music; also there's a connection with the first game (but again it's not totally explained and somehow feels forced), and yet it feels very different to it, as if all the ingredients were there but it hadn't been clear how to combine them. If you are in that same situation I described in the beginning, I guess it's worth checking when it has a good discount, but don't expect it to be at the same level as part one.

    Fresh breeze, breathtaking

This game has a lot of flaws! And quite a few bugs (Windows 11 speaking). All fatal bugs and most of minor ones disappear after reloading. Some minor stay till the end though. It is NOT a puzzle game. It is a calm exploration game. You will not go by deductive logic but by luck, hunch an perseverance. Within first three hours of play I've solved one secret, by accident. And it felt ok. It made to go to GOG and purchase the first game in series. Goetia 2 is so fresh, innovative and immersible that I didn't care much about progress at the beginning. And progress goes slow, v-e-e-ry slow. You have to wander around a lot and things will sort out for you. And it's also ok. Graphis and sound are breathtaking, backtracking is almost compelling. What diminished my experience was Luca, the protagonist. All human/demon characters are portrayed in a very poor manner in stark contrast to the rest of graphic. Boys in this game are portrayed as girls and girls as boys, well Daphne as a beatch:). But I found Luca - not very bright, narcissistic fellow, - particularly annoying with his world view summed up as "I don't know, maybe yes, maybe no yes". Bottom line is, Goetia 2 is totally innovative game, certainly with some quirks and toothing problems. But for the discount price it almost made me feel guilty.

    comapring to the first part...

there are good things: -you can read the font easily and bad things: -too much talking, too little mystery, with faces, which kinda kill the atmosphere. Overall, still winning to give it a try, but it's missing the instant enthrallment of the first part.

    Not very good.

Too much pure moon logic in this one. Good writing, enjoyable story, but utterly incomprehensiple puzzles without a guide.
