Pleasant, Charming, Gorgeous, Cute

(I'll preface this by saying I'm a 27 year old chap with a love of Doom, Bioshock & Dead Space). Ghost of a Tale is a wonderful game to sit down and play, a truly pleasant and charming experience; it relieves stress like nothing else I have in my library. It's a very pretty game that makes wonderful use of lighting and colour, and features some of the most characterful (and, unashamedly admitting this, cute) animations I have ever seen. The world is full of character and tells it's own story, in addition to that which the developers have included. Said backstory is intriguing and presented very tongue-in-cheek by some interesting characters. Your character even has some wonderful music pieces added that you can play to NPC's, I'm assuming this is original music (but bravo even if not, it's lovely). The gameplay is currently strong yet a little shallow, however I think it has been refined a lot in the months I have been playing; be warned it is aimed more at the younger audience as opposed to hardcore Deus Ex stealth addicts. Personally I find it helps suit a more relaxed style of play that matches the theme of the world. There is a selection of items and costumes to utilise, offering different stats and bonuses that are fun to collect (as well as looking great). The majority of missions are currently collect-a-thons, but the world is gorgeous enough that you won't mind - and it takes you to some surprising places! I'm eagerly awaiting the catacombs update. Overall a thoroughly wonderful, charming and downright pleasant experience that has recaptured for me the feeling of my gaming 'glory years' when I was little. Definitely worth supporting!

Masterpiece that requires a high end PC

Ghost of a Tale is quite classical, (with a lot quests consisting of going back and forth to fetch collect objects), but the design of the characters, the world, the writing, and the well rounded gameplay make it exceptional. The difficulty is aimed at casual gamers, but the experienced ones will also enjoy it. The game is magnificent, but, like many indie games made with off the shelf 3D engines, poorly optimized. While it's not a problem on a high end PC, lowering the details to make it work on older machines won't help much, (because the graphic chip probably spends 90% of its time drawing the entire level hidden behind the wall in front of you). But hey, games like these make it worth buying overkill hardware ;)

A great mouse adventure

It is a well made game that had a great story with many intertwining stories that tied to the main story. You will meet many different interesting characters. It is one of those games that rewards you for going exploring everywhere. Game looks beautiful. You got plenty of different tools to use for different situations. I almost got the same feeling as when playing the old Thief games. Was a good feeling.

This game is a very unique experience.

The game is stunningly beautiful, it's charming and adorable. The level design loops back in on itself, shortcuts unlocked to the hub area. It's so good that I remembered where to go after months without playing it. It's the same kind of level design as Dark Souls, with every path heading back to Firelink Shrine. The gameplay can be stale at times, but the world is so darn enjoyable to be in. It feels alive. The story is also great, every loose end is tied in the end, it has one of the best stories of any game I've recently played. It's so refreshing to see a game like this. It's a charming adventure. I can't believe this was just made by a few people. This should have been very popular.

Beautifully Crafted Gem

What a beautifully crafted gem of a game Ghost of a Tale is! Rich and intriguing lore in a world of anthropomorphic animals and wonderfully made environments to explore, which do a good job at making you feel like you've been dropped into a very lived in world. Adding to that are the many conversations to have with its inhabitants and interesting ballads to play. I genuinely felt taken up in the world of the game, and much like a good book found hard to put down. It's difficult to pin down, but the experience in it's entirety is like no other game I've ever played, but exactly like a game I've always wanted. And it's really hard to believe all of this came from an indie studio, but they've shown their worth their weight in... song from their creation. It can hiccup sometimes, but the crafted care is enough to overlook this and I would recommend giving it a play through during the AAA off season.
