Gato Roboto

This Platventure stars a cute little kitty that finds a giant mech suit, and cat lovers will adore this, because Kiki acts just like a cat would in almost every situation. The mech is big and powerful, but can't touch water; you can leave the suit behind to swim or climb walls, but one hit and you explode... though so does whatever hit you; told you she's just like a real cat! Naturally, you get upgrades for the suit as you go along, and they're very obvious; no miniscule upgrade hidden in a single block, forcing you to blow up every square inch of the game just to find everything. The game is fairly easy, as most games in the genre tend to be, except for the boss fights; they will push your skills to the limit! The monochrome visuals are lovely, and you can find items to unlock a total of 16 different palettes (you start with 2) along the way, making the visuals customizable to boot! The music is a bit weird, but I think it adds well to the atmosphere. Great title for fans of the genre!

With all of its multiple color variants, fun gameplay loops and delightfully immersive soundscape. Gato Roboto is sure to keep you cozy and comfortable!

It's a short and small game. Got it on sale for under 1€ and enjoyed it. Took me 3 hours and wasn't too diffucult for me as a beginner metroidvania fan. Recommend it

Just perfect. It's close enough to the game it takes inspiration from, but has some twists that improve on the genre... quite impressive. I loved the black and white pixel art. The music is awesome.

Not a terrible game, but not a good one either. Doesn't excel in any particular aspect and the one thing that is most positive, the visuals, is hindered by the monochrome art design which causes a lack of discrepancy between visual elements at times. Gameplay is okay at best, There's very little reason to bother with fighting normal enemies unless forced to since they don't drop health pick-ups or the like aren't particularly fun to engage with. The cat-only sections can be a bit of a pain due to the one-hit death mechanic associated with them. Boss fights are a bit better. Game is only a couple of hours long, which I consider a plus since I wouldn't have finished it if it was longer. Writing/humor is bad, though thankfully there's not a ton of it. There are a ton of similar games in the genre that are better. I can only imagine this has such high reviews because of cats. People on the internet like cats, so good market testing by the developer at least.
