Description
The Beast Within is the second installment of the trilogy presenting the dark adventures of Gabriel “Schattenjäger” Knight. This time the protagonist is on the trail of a strange wolf, murderer of a little girl. Gabriel was asked to take care of this evil and suspects that this case is paranormal in nature. Together with his assistant, Grace Nakimura, he discovers the dark truth behind the history of Bavaria.

The game employs full motion video technology to its fullest. The actors move through photo-realistic sceneries and every action leads to an FMV sequence. cheesy but still very good

I really liked the Gabriel Knight games, played the second at last but even today it is a great game. I had some crashes, so save often. The actors do a good job with some overacting but this is just a part of the charm of this game and the genre of FMV games of this time. I love how this series is taking place in some real world places and mysteries and they catch there charm very well. I still need to visit New Orleans from part one but second and third match to the real locations very good. Wile I'm writing this a change it from 4 to 5 stars. Nothing more need to say.

Best of the 3 Gabriel Knight Games!

This was the first GK game which I had the privilege of playing (also the first Windows game which I bought!). Both my brother and I spent many hours playing this together to try and figure out the various puzzles, thoroughly enjoying the FMV sequences as well. I still remember getting stuck on the "splicing" part and that was the first time I used a walkthrough as well! Overall one of the best story lines in a video game, and if you enjoy any of the Jane Jensen stories from the GK series then give her books a try as well. Great stuff!

True classic

Thriller to find the title here. One of very few FMW tjat not only have a great story, fine gameplay and not least some really good acting. Highly recommended!

Best played in English

GK 2 is awesome if you can understand the English speech. There are no subtitles at all. I finished the game many decades ago in German, and for a native German it is hillarious when American actors try to speak as German people. Well, I think a few are actually native speaker. Beside that the plot is very interesting and I think this game aged well, if you like those style of games. It sometimes feels very "real". All in all the English version feels superior to the German version.

Amazing Point'n'Click Adventure

I just finished playing this. Just wow. I was around during the peak of the CD-ROM FMV craze. I have fond memories of such games, but this game is something else. The acting is great for an FMV game from the 90s. The plot is another great mystery for the series, with some tense moments. How I managed to not play this until 2025 I will never know! Only small negatives I can point at the game are: - Low resolution photo-relaistic backgrounds can make pixel hunting for interactive objects hard sometimes. - Game relies on particular sequences happening in order and you can get stuck and not know why because you failed to click somewhere. The above are nitpicks though. This game is amazing. Highly recommended.
