Freespace 2

There hasn't been a space-sim yet that compares to the brilliant masterpiece of Volition. It is unfortunate they are no longer in business. I like Freespace Open, but it gets all too complicated at times. Something always goes wrong with the install. I download on a laptop and transfer to my desktop. A Freespace 3 would be an amazing treat to the space-sim combat genre.

Freespace 2 , it's space-combat as it best. Sequel to the aclaimed Freespace, it take everything that made the first one a great game and make it better. With graphics that's still take comparison to younger title like Darkstar one the game deliver an experience that few (If none) other game have been able to. Im talking about fast spaced combat with an overall management of your ship and something more than aim-shoot-repeat style of gameplay, coupled with large scale battle that will make you shiver with excitement . And adding to the experience is the well balanced sounds effect and music. With a solid story with interesting twist and the fact your accomplishement and failure weight on the future missions. It's worthy of your bucks, and a must buy if you like a game that take advantage of your Joystick. And with a moding communitty still on the go and updating new content every month, You are gonna still be able to enjoy : Multiplayer, High-def graphics and new mission.

this was the most action-packed, explosion filled laser-shooting frenzy I have ever played, I would recommend this to anybody who likes seeing explosions and testosterone fueled dogfights.

The best space combat sim since Wing Commander. The game does a great job creating a desperate struggle for survival in the cold blackness of space, it truly pulls you in an will have you ducking and in front of your computer. Best of all, are the mods. An updated graphics mod makes this game shine and the the Battlestar Galactica and Wing Commander Prologue conversions are great. The best of the bunch is The Bablyon Project Mod with so many campaigns and missions you'll play for days.

I don't have much to add, except that i actually like the briefings in this game. Probably sounds weird, but the briefings are cool. They have really good voice actors, are fairly detailed of your objectives, allow you to see 3D models of ships that will appear, and include snippets of video. They are also one of the main places to find out about the story.
