Suprise!
I missed out on Freespace2 years ago. I just discovered it a few days ago after downloading a mod built on its engine. I was directed here after I started wanting to experiance the origional game. For being as aged as it is, the engine and Game look and play better then anything released in recent years. With the ton of mods and missions out there for FS2, I suspect I'll be well entertained for a while. Not bad for six bucks.

Fun
One word describes this game experience. I first played this game on a Pentuim 233 with a 3dfx Voodoo3 card in 16-bit color, and then an early ATI Radeon in 32-bit, and it was still playable when the local area was full of fighters and capital ships. I had cut my space sim teeth on another very capable movie-based title, but this was the first time I felt myself becoming part of a futuristic universe. The ability to map any axis or button to any control, and the general (great) feel of piloting the different fighter craft all become unimportant and secondary to the plot, brought about by great voice acting and believable mission progression.

Freespace 2
This is a great space sim. I remember when I first played the demo on cd that came with a gaming magazine years ago. This game stand the test of time and is just enjoyable now as it was then. The graphics and environment are great as is the storyline. If you like space genre or science fiction this is a must have.

Holy crap!
I played the first game in this series, and I was surprised, I enjoyed it greatly. But when I got the demo for the second, I didn't imagine it being even better. For years I had wanted to get this game, and it was then that I found GoG, and I finally convinced my parents to buy it for me. The graphics are amazing for the age, and the soundtrack is even better. A must have for anyone who enjoys blowing stuff up. Another addition to it is the SCP, or Source Code Project, also known as Freespace Open. It makes everything so much more realistic and enhances this game to the best it can be. I would STRONGLY urge anyone to buy this game.
