Freedom Fighters

Same game as a remember from 2003. It's fun to see how games have changed in the last 20+ years, while this does show some age, it plays quite well on a modern PC, and man, it plays exactly as I remember it. Makes me want to fire up the old 2000's era systems and play this on the original controller again, but there is nothing but love for this port to the PC.

The TV-station level has been living rent free in my mind since I was a kid. While a bit clunky by today's standards it still is a joy to play through. The game has such a vibe. Level design is great, with multible angles to tackle challenges. It really makes you look out for possible vantage points since you are almost always out-manned and out-gunned. It has some really amazing shoot-outs in the late game where your troops line up in a trench or railing and just rains down suppressive fire. Progression is fun as you gain more and more troops the more missions and side objectives you complete. One detail that escaped me back in the day is how your aim gets improved over time. In the first level you can't hit a target for the life of you, but later on you get more precise. I would absolutely love a remaster or maybe even a remake, where the squad tactics could get more fleshed out and the story gets more Highly recommend, even if you've never played it.
