FlatOut

i have a seriously low end AMD E350 laptop with 1066 DDR3 RAM. The game runs smooth and trouble free even under the integrated graphics used in this laptop. I have run it as well on an AMD Athlon II X4 640 and a motherboard with HD 3000 integrated graphics and enjoyed a similar smooth experience. I quite imagine almost any thing as old as 2009 should run this game quite well. As to the game, well, the lack of brand name vehicles rankles some but due to the variety of what is present the game has variety and flexibility as to your choice of vehicle. As an under 1GB download that is self contained and needs no further patching or addons to give one a pleasant and crash filled happy racing experience, well the low price makes this a very easy choice. The racing itself has a series of interesting elements, such as destroying nearly all track side elements like signs, fencing, flimsy structures such as tents and viewing stands. Several tracks have short cuts which once learned gives an advantage to a slower or under powered car. The AI is generally quite good and doesn't seem to cheat. The game is very worthwhile for all ages and due to its ow low hardware requirements will be a good choice ofr the younger ones just getting into PC gaming.

When I'm looking back at the times before Flatout all the racing games were pretty the same stereotype. Series like NFS did a good job, but there was something missing - destruction, damage and the right feelling when you're driving a big, heavy, 8V american car. FlatOut brings all the things we like on the rednecks comedies like Dukes of Hazard or any older action movies from the 80s. It's really fun and challenge to drive these cars, in the wild, with all the fyzics effects and stunning control of the car. You can't compare this game to any other serie or single title. There were videogames before FlatOut and there are other games after FlatOut. But FlatOut is only one. It created its own genre. It's my favourite racing game.

Be aware that you will not get a native Linux version of this game by downloading the «Linux» version. You'll get the Windows version and over 300 megabyte of WINE.

Flatout is one best racing arcade game i ever played and it run flawessly in potato pc/laptop and linux/windows.

Cannot host a multiplayer on windows without getting a runtime error (I am using win7 64bit). Several other users also having this problem: https://www.gog.com/forum/flatout_series/does_lan_work_in_the_gog_version The menu is also not the best, they are clearly made for console (i.e. cannot enter your player name with the keyboard, you have to use the screen keyboard). So I would rather recommand FlatOut 2, which actually works.
