A routine assignment to locate the president of Armacham Technology Corporation in connection with an unfolding hostage crisis turns into a desperate battle for survival after an explosion decimates the city and unleashes Alma Wade, the terrifying supernatural menace at the center of Armacham’s highly classified Project Origin. As Alma’s power swells out of control, special forces Sgt. Michael Becket and his squad must battle through an apocalyptic landscape of shattered buildings and buckled streets in search of clues for how to destroy her. The more Becket learns about Armacham’s secret experiments and reckless agenda, the more he begins to suspect that he’s somehow linked to the crisis and may be the only one capable of averting total disaster.

F.E.A.R. 2 is a fairly good sequel. It retains the first game's signature gameplay style, with a few minor changes that I don't mind. The story is excellent, as expected from Monolith Productions. I'm still a little disappointed that Monolith chose to retcon the expansions from the first game, but I understand the reason for it. While I understand that this game is not as well-regarded as the first, I believe you should give it a chance if you're fond of Monolith's work.

I played both F.E.A.R. 1 and 2 years ago and remember liking 2. However, I decided to replay all games one after the other and sadly it isn't as good as I remember it.
Combat is a complete downgrade from the original in terms of effects, weapons and AI (somehow). And when compared with other shooters from its era like MW2 it already feels antiquated.
The graphics are solid for its time.
The story doesn't expand much on the lore of the game but it is more cinematic than the first entry. Takes about 5-6 hours to go through on max difficulty.
Overall this is a 6.5 or 7 out of 10. It can be decent for a playthrough but doesn't offer more.
Betetr than the first
Positives
Great graphics
Great horror
Alma is a treat everytime you see or hear her
Negatives
Gameplay is eaiser than it should be
Some parts look bad and cheap
Overall my favorite fear game
For those who're reminiscing of old games from the early 2000's, this is the game - you've got a (subjectively) good campaign - but, an unfortunate dead multiplayer. IMO, play this (if you want).
