Description
FTL: Advanced Edition features:
- New systems, playable ships, alien race, weapons, drones, and more!
- A new sector with new events, written by Tom Jubert and special guest writer Chris Avellone!
- New music by Ben Prunty!

Did you ever want to reroute power to the shields, set phasers to stun, or even eject the warp core? Well, now you can! In FTL, you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

FTL's complex strategic gameplay allows you to give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution, and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle. You will encounter unique alien lifeforms and technology. You can upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of six diverse alien races. Be the Captain you want: hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions. In the randomized galaxy each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. Each time you play another challenging session of FTL: Faster Than Light, it won't be quite the same.
  • Unlimited adventures in the vast depths of unpredictable space.
  • A new randomized galaxy to explore each time you start a new game.
  • Quick play sessions (from 5 to about 90 minutes) will allow you to add that spaceship commander feeling to any of your days.

Space Crack Cocaine

I've simply put more hours into this game than in the (Dark, Demons') Souls games combined. I'm not a big fan of deterministic rogue-likes, where often it's just a matter of data collection and action execution in the correct sequence or sequences. FTL is no rogue-like under this aspect. It surely can be harsh without your playing exceptionally bad just because of the random factor. But the same factor brings you out of your comfort zone and sees you trying out new crazy stuff. if you're up for the challenge, that is. It has cheese tactics here and there, weak AI (perhaps its biggest flaw yet) and some special event chains are harder to complete than "French-kissing a cobra" and surviving. But, but, but... it's delightful! Wonderfully simple yet attractive graphics (even better in Advanced Edition), hypnotizing soundtrack, manic ship to ship action, especially interesting with all the variety brought by AE and good pacing, thanks to the fleet pursuing you. The game just works brilliantly. I didn't have any specific expectation when I first got around to playing it. Some hundreds of hours later, I can definitely say this one will stand the test of time. Once you FTL, you can't stop!

20 minute cursing orgy

Purchased this game on sale. Its one of those extremely frustrating yet fun?(err) just gotta keep trying-games. Overly punishing and as other reviewers have noted once your ship has been boarded by multiple enemies(early and often) its pretty much game over. As soon as you painstakingly earn enough points to start with better ships it gets a little better because they automatically start better equipped and the AI doesn't seem to punish you too much for having a better craft. Old school saves means simple mistakes will nullify any progress made and requiring a restart and lots of "I'm never playing this %#*$*! game again" moments. However, I do come back and die-die again. Good game if you want something quick for 15-20 minute stretches and cursing fits.

surprise: best game i bought this year

By Eris, this is a truly great game. I've been playing it now for weeks, every day 1-2h (mostly while watching TV) I bought it, because it was cheap (summer sale) together with about 20 other games. None of the others have been played for longer than 2-3h. No, i did not win. But that's the fun, isn't it?

Love it, but I am stupid

Don't get me wrong, I love the game and I still play it on my son's pc sometimes.. But, I can't play it on my own pc since I upgraded to Windows 10. I knew it had compatibility issues, I mean I can run an older ( non advanced edition ) version but AE just crashes on launch. So, intoxicated as I was, I only saw this part of the page -> Works on: Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10), Mac OS X (10.6.8) and Linux (Ubuntu 14.04, Mint 17) I was delighted! But it doesn't run, which is evident from this part below it: Minimum system requirements - Windows: Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7, <hw requirements> Not that I want the money back, but it seems like something which shouldn't happen no matter the levels of intoxication. Sincerely, Your friendly neighbourhood Martian

Awesome game still relevant today

When I first played this game, I thought WTF, this is a dumb and boring game. As I got more into it, I then realized it was actually a lot more interesting and varied than I first anticipated. I've had it for a while now and I'm still playing it. I wouldn't call it addictive but it has its uniqueness compared to other games I've played so I would not hesitate to recommend it.
