Did you ever want to reroute power to the shields, set phasers to stun,
or even eject the warp core? Well, now you can! In FTL, you experience the
atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a
dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with
multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down
your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape,
power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the
fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation
roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure
through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.
FTL's complex strategic gameplay allows you to give orders to your crew,
manage ship power distribution, and choose weapon targets in the heat of
battle. You will encounter unique alien lifeforms and technology. You can
upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of six diverse alien
races. Be the Captain you want: hundreds of text based encounters will
force you to make tough decisions. In the randomized galaxy each
play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your
decisions. Each time you play another challenging session of FTL: Faster Than Light, it won't be quite the same.
Unlimited adventures in the vast depths of unpredictable space.
A new randomized galaxy to explore each time you start a new game.
Quick play sessions (from 5 to about 90 minutes) will allow you to add that spaceship commander feeling to any of your days.
One of the best games of all time
I am going to re-purchase here on gog, and now with portuguese subtitles, i/you can't go wrong.
It's Hard, it has no mercy but damn, what a game!
I've spent a lot of hours in this game. Exploring the slightly randomized world and systems one by one is very fun and the short runs make sure the game always stays engaging - failure doesn't feel too bad, I always just had the drive to do better and learn from my mistakes.
It's a great case of having many simple systems, that come together to create a complex game.
The game is really cool! the graphics are beautiful, the combat is really fun, the soundtrack is perfect to listen to, but there is one detail that, for me, that ruins the game... What ruins the game is the issue of The Rebel fleet is always getting close you, which gives a feeling of desperation, which ends up getting in the way of exploring the systems and enjoying what the game has to offer. I know it's the game's proposal, but in my opinion it would be much cooler to have an open world (in the same vein as the game) where you would have to
improve the ship, recruit new crew members, do secondary and main missions that would put you in confrontation direct with the Rebels,
having a dispute over territories between the two factions; and all this without having to run away from a giant fleet.
If there is ever a sequel that has this feature, I will definitely buy it!
The game on is own is great. Mainly focus on space exploration and risk. The goal is to deliver the secret plan to the federation as you are being hunted by the rebel. Each encounter is random. Every decision you make will contribute to you success against the final boss, the rebel flagship.
Now that you finish the base game, I recommend trying two amazing mods.
The game is too easy? Try captain edition. This mod add more encounters, players and enemy ships, new area to explore, and difficulty spike.
The other mod is the multiverse. Without spoiling too much, this mod continue the story after the defeat of the rebel flagship. Basically a whole new game and is considered the squeal to the game made by fan.
