Far Cry®

The world is huge so long as you don't try to go anywhere; and you can approach the missions any way you want, so long as you want to run and gun down the main path. I've never been more frustrated by a game that presents you with so much and yet lets you do so little. Like a gaming mirage. As a pure shooter it's fine I guess? I liked pretty much every other shooter released around the same time more though.

This game will make your GPU run at quad digits fps if you don't adjust it using \g_maxfps (example: \g_maxfps 60) command in the console command (press `) but setting it to 60 fps will make the game run really sluggish and the game will dip into 40 fps, so since I have a 144 fps monitor, I set the ingame fps to 144 and it generally ran smoothly. The game itself is pretty tough as nails granted I can't complain about the difficulty since I think I set it to Veteran or Realism. But the game is really forgiving and gives you checkpoints after about every objective or so. I personally really loved the game since it reminds of the classic shooters.

the game is very good and adaptive

It's almost difficult to believe "Far Cry" launched a franchise. While it's a wildly entertaining premise and a solid FPS game, clunky level design in the middle of the game and poor AI design in the late stage makes for a solid opening third that quickly goes downhill to an underwhelming closer. Even so, it's repeatable, even if there are better games out there.

I played Farcry many years ago and I'm surprised to enjoy it even better than before. The AI difficulty makes it fun and challenging.
